Systemfel;

You do not need templates to make z-wave modules work with the HC2 or HCL. Templates are just an 'easy' way to change parameters of the device. But most of the time the standard parameters will work fine. I have many devices without templates that work perfectly.

By the way: What is "Gaop" ? I just googled it and didn't get anything domotics-related...

    The temple is needed to make it work 100%. If it were not for all the bugs you should correct instead of creating new things that will not work. I'm probably one of the many who begin to get a little tired of not paying attention to the end customer. My question is when should they start listening to users? and listen to what we want to solve?

    Yeah, how many years the possibility to send HC-generated templates into black hole...

    But about the thing - just yesterday, aft. 4.162B update ends my personal patience, and i did it by myself - copied the id-0159-0002-0002-01-0C-Goap-.xml template file, offered by HC2-gui into HC's /opt/fibaro/template/zwave/ - at least now the messagebox is clear of "without templates" warnings ;)

    Something else? Nope, no "personalized" parameters and other fancy things, but at least the message box is clean and to be honest, i do not see any reason to hack *this* XML. For other devices situation may be differ, but right now i do not have such devices.

    PS. The system was working fine (switching, energy, without connected temp. sensors)  also without the copy-action, and hope, it's working so also now (Yep, i know that Fibaro does not like such hacks, and may-be with reason). The only benefit was the clean message box.

    PPS. Goap is given by firmware as manufacturer of some older (and not templated by Fibaro ?!?) Qubino devices.

    PPPS. Who of us is clairvoyant? Yes, the hack was done aft year(s) of planning yesterday, and for this specific Goap devices .... and aft. some hours Your post.

    I wondered about that too long ago and came to the conclusion "Goap" is indeed the manufacturer of the qubino modules.

    What modules exactly do you have in mind? Because, you named only the manufacturer.

    Note that creating templates for third party devices is not our priority. We create them when we can. Users often send us templates created by them and the time of implementing the template is a bit shorter (but not always). The device works without the template, you have to add parameters manually according to the manual of the device.

    It may be possible that the device is not supported yet, then the template won't actually help. But, if it has been added properly and you can use it with it's intended use then it is fine.

    Depends... because users may also had systems, where the HC2 is only device from Fibaro, and if some other controller offers better support for modules in system, then i'd instead of Fibaro really hurry - to stay in system ;)

    But yeah, of course - mainly i agree with this prioritization. But... As You are not so fast with templates, then is it possible to allow users to make and use their own ones? Hmm, something like the custom icons for example - if user takes the responsibility, then can upload own xml. The easiest case, just an downloaded file, for smarter users also possibility to change something (hmm, is the XML-format documented somewhere, or is it changing so fast, requiring to much effort keep doc in sync) and may-be also exchange descriptions (what's about security - can the device description do something nasty to).

    How did you do this? (copy the files into <path>) The message box with errors in it annoys the hell out of me..

    Just downloaded the template from GUI and then SCP into Linux system. Yep, the access to HC's *linux* box is required (root passwd or some other method). About root - sorry, but not publishing it here for all. Method itself is simple, but with root You also may brick Your box (let's not talk about Fibaro warranty here).

    PS. Aft. update/grade of HC You must re-do it, as at least last update puts clean copy of templates directory.
