First home automation project - Which actuator?

Question

Posted

Hi there!

In the last few weeks, I have dealt a lot with home automation. Now I want to start my the first project.

I have four LED strips that each are connect to a transformer (12V 100W LPV-150-12). Two LED strips are connected together and controlled via a (double) switch. In addition a controller (MiLight 2.4G WiFi WiFi 4-channel) is connected to each transformer so I can dim the LED strips or turn it on/ off via a remote control.

The current construction has the problem that I can't use the remote control if the wall switch is turned off. I would like to change this for convenience reasons.

Initially my plan was to disconnect the wall switch from the circuit and replace the switch with a Z-Wave button, which switches a Z-Wave compatible device connected to the transformer. Now I wonder if that's not too complicated.

Is there perhaps a Z-Wave dimmer that I can directly connect to the wall switch? Is the Fibaro Dimmer 2 perhaps the right solution for me?

Thanks in advance for your support,

André
