Both have their pros and cons. Obviously, I would strongly recommend that you bought the Fibaro heat Controller :D But it would be best if you searched the forum as there are tons of post on both devices and decide for yourself.

@A.Smolinski this is the second time that you make a very dishonest statement about the Heat Controller. The first time we (the Heat Controller owners - I have 19 FGT's) were collectively shocked about your comment that the v4.3 firmware had solved all problems. But we blamed it to the fact that you were new to the forum and had probably missed the disastrous history of the FGT.

But this time, you know very well what the status of that product is.

So, @fingusio, the correct answer is: since it's introduction 8 months ago, the Heat Controller has never worked and the list of problems is long. But a new firmware is being worked on, and will hopefully turn it into a usable device.

So if your buying decision can be postponed until after that release, make a comparison then.

On paper, the Heat Controller is superior to any other similar product, but in reality it has only caused trouble up to now. Please browse through the Heat Controller topic on the forum, and you will get a good idea of the numerous issues.

@marcwau I gave my opinion based on my knowledge about its issues and the updates planned for it. You're free to disagree with it, but don't accuse me of dishonesty.

Yes, my comment about the 4.3v was out of place and it pushed me to investigate the case thoroughly and learn all the details about its issues etc.

However, I'm glad that we agree to the fact that it would be best if the author of the topic went through their own research. ;) That's definitely the best way.

@A.Smolinski When I wrote that post, I carefully thought about wording, because I don't use those terms lightly.

Long-term Fibaro clients like me, and there are many others on this forum, have been BEGGING Fibaro for years to communicate openly and honestly about issues and the actions (and deadlines) on fixing the problems.

Instead, we have had to learn to live with either complete silence or the downplaying of issues, rather than those badly needed open communications.

But when you "strongly recommend" a user to buy a product, when you are perfectly aware that it is not working in its current state, you are crossing another line. And yes, I call that dishonest. You could at least have given the facts and issued a warning about them.

And it is NOT because you know what the future firmware upgrade will bring, that it will fix all problems.

Version 4.3 was promised to do exactly that - but it didn't, and most problems are still here.

I have invested a lot in (19) FGTs, and had to replace all (19) heating panel valves to at least get rid of the FGT calibration errors, so I have a lot to lose if it doesn't get solved before next winter.

But if someone asks me today whether I can "strongly recommend" it... honestly? I don't think anyone can or should before the evidence is there that even the most basic function (reliably regulating the temperature in a room) is working.

@marcwau I urged the author to perform their own research as I'm well aware that, as an admin, my answer might not seem objective. No need for a warning of any sorts as doing that research would clear things up completely.

I'm sorry that you had to go through all this and apologize for the inconvenience. I can assure you that we're working on fixing that issue.

However, I don't want to get off topic in this conversation. The question was about which device should the author buy. Let's stay on the topic. I gave my opinion, you gave yours. let the other users give theirs.

    Agreed.

But could you please move the topic to the Heat Controller section, where it is more "at home". Thank you.

Here is my opinion. Based on facts as much as possible. Talking about control, fw 4.3 is not as good as Danfoss LC13. I do not think LC13 is that great. But LC13 is also not firmware upgradable (by the user) and does not support an external probe. The Fibaro TRV uses a different user interface: LEDs - some like it (I do) but some want an LCD instead. Fw 4.3 is buggy, please use the search function on this forum using "FGT-001" keyword. We do not know when the next fw arrives and how good that one will be. Danfoss LC14 seems to exist but I am not sure if you can buy them. The third manufacturer of TRVs, you will find them in the comments. I have no experience with their recent valves.
