How to Connect Nest Thermostat

Shady Hamilton

Question

Dear All,

This is my First topic here, i am moving from Vera to Fibaro, I always wondered which one is the better controller, so I have to have hands on i guess to know which one is the better...

My first issue is my Nest Thermostat controllers, i have two of them, i read around the forum that there used to be a plug in but it is stopped by Fibaro to be updated or something, and I contacted Fibaro support, they said they are not going to work on the Nest plug-in because they are working on their own thermostat, so they don't want to support Nest in a way....

so my question is, since Nest is one of the most popular thermostat controller, did anybody find a way to connect Nest thermstat to Fibaro HC2 please?

Many thanks,

Shady

This must be it, let us know next week, skywalker.

It works after 9 days, so token expiring problem is solved :).

I found something: i have changed to "in production" on app status, instead of testing. I could not change from external user type to internal, i will see how it goes with this one...

Quoted here, easier...

Ok, back in business, hopefully for longer than a week now.

This time i was more aware of looking at the "In production" setting and i saw it was by default in my Oauth consent screen.

Let's hope the refresh token will not expire anymore.

NestV3

Verification Status

Verification not required

Your consent screen is being shown, but your app has not been reviewed so your users may not see all of your information, and you will not be able to request certain OAuth scopes.

In production

Thank you so much for all this work and troubleshooting. Just went through the process and got there in the end!

Where do I find this publishing status though? Is that in the GCP Console somewhere?

Thank you so much @Skywalker and friends for your posts,

I follow your steps and got the 4 codes needed, create de VD's and scene in Fibaro, Temperature and humidity shows the values, but Thermostat doesn't show Setpoint and we get this error in the scene debug:

Can't update device mode. Invalid argument(s) supplied. {61} {Cool} - "ID 61 correspond to Thermostat Virtual Device"

Also i can't be able to operate NEST from VD orders, it doesn't work,

I attached the image,

I wonder if you know what can it be? Could you help me or suggest where to look?

Thanks in advance for your attention and collaboration,

I have the same error, why are people talking about Curl?

I copy/paste it in mij browser.....

you need to install and activate the correct API PUP/SUB and wait a while, else it does not work, SDM API is not enough

Well Guys i went through all the steps on page 9 and got it working.
Took some time cause its very confusing.

API that need to be installed is the SDM and pup/sub
for the Curl Command please use any linux machine with internet / virtual on your pc's or as the original comment says, login to a nas device with Putty.

evidence it works ;-)
please also do not forget the last step in the documentation to make a device.list call or your tokens will expire as mentioned

Is it only possible to get values from the Nest thermostat or can the mode and or setpoint be changed?

Everything is already posted on this topic, please take a look on the pages before.

I have just implemented what I could find and made some modifications (described in the topic), I have no credit for creating the VD.

I have put step by step procedure, so you should find everything here!

It should work this way, even if it is not so simple as a fibaro nest plugin (we basically begged fibaro for this plugin, removed in 2018...without any luck).
