How long last fibaro hc2 on power supply ups ?

Question

Posted

I just wondering if fibaro will be good solution for security. In case when thieves shut down main power button in house (and we are on vacation) how long can it approximately last on ups (i know that it depends on capacity but try to write some examples , for example fibaro will be connecter to ups with internet modem.)

thank you guys

it will last as long the batterys have power.....

it depends on the ups type, the amount off power the internet modem/router uses etc.

(and ofcouse the age of the used baterys)

and: fibaro is not a good security system, for good security buy a native system. (caddx/networx/dsc etc)

It depends on the capacity of your UPS. A small one wont be online for long. If you have a huge capacity, it can take up for hours... Use a good brand, Eaton or APC

I agree with what the other users said. I'd say the load of the HC2 is < 20 W so if you put that number in an UPS calculator, you can find out the run time.

If the UPS has an HTTP interface, you might be able to write code (or find code) to get status of the UPS on your HC2. For instance, to do an automatic clean shutdown of your controller.  Although the HC2 has USB connectors, it does not support it...

Not really an answer to your question... But often overlooked when people buy an UPS. If your controller is on UPS and there is a power cut, the controller might send a command to a device and decide it is "dead".  If you have the "default polling," this happens at regular intervals so very likely *all* your mains powered devices will go "dead" after a power cut, requiring action to bring them back online. A global option can change this behavior. But when a node is really dead, sending data to that node might cause delays on your network. So if you have never worried about "dead devices" you might want to learn more about what they are and to to handle them, there are several posts on this forum.

Did you buy an HC2 or are you still researching if it is reliable enough for you (I am referring to some of your previous questions)?
