LG WebOS and websocket

Question

Posted

Hello,

LG TVs from 2014 use websocket communication for control. It looks like this  "ssap://audio/setMute"

HC2 has plugin for LG TV, but only for old models with UDAP control.

  • will Fibaro add WebSocket LUA communication?
  • will FIBARO add new plugin for LG TV 2014 and newest?
  • is there some other option for control LG TV now?
  • Is possible program easy websocket control with tcpsocket?

Thank you

Martin"

Well, the LG TV plugin has been put on the list for some refreshing. We'll verify what we need to rebuild the plugin :)

You can consider it as a submitted suggestion for improvement :)

@T.Konopka is there anything about this? We need LG TV WebOS4 support!

Thx

all the older plugins has been created based on some reversing/work from Fibaro/others, which means lot of work is necessary if manufacturer changed something/updated firmware and so on. Fibaro stopped to support such lazy implementations, as this does NOT satisfy customers in long term meaning. Currently Fibaro is working on lot of plugins, but WITH targeted manufacturer together, to get things working in proper way. So don't blame them for that, use VD or any other bridge between if you wish, or buy supported TV

Hi, yes, that's very good, that we can look forward to new plugins. But it wrote about websockets, that is technology for communications with new devices, this must have support at LUA engine.

And without this is not possible write new plugin for LG TVs, by me...

    My questions remains:

    • will Fibaro add WebSocket LUA communication for VDs?
    • is there some other option for control LG TV now?
    • Is possible program easy websocket control with tcpsocket?

    Thank you

having sock lib sure, using tcpspcket in VD probably not, but i might be wrong

There might be however something else possible, i just got idea how one could make websocket available from scene, but i have to test it first

Thank you for answer. I'm looking forward to new plugin.

But what about support websockets at lua virtual devices? I need to program VD for new LG TV.

    Hi

Getting my Home automation system to speak and announce things for me has become an  obsession for me. :-)

I did fail to get HC2 to send notifications to alexa no (https support on HC2).  I did fix that by relaying the messages via my old vera system.

Now I did find from openHAB forum that via LG plugin they are able to send  "Toast messages" that the TV will display as a short message on the TV screen. How cool is that !

Has anyone tried that and is that possible via Fibaro LG plugin?
