Restart HLC cutting power ok ?

Question

Posted (edited)

Hi, my HLC stops responding now and then, I plan to "restart" using old fashion SMS control of a power plug.
(Yes I know its stupid to control a homeatomation system that way, but there are no redundancy in the system, like check for network activity, or a simple reboot device every XX hour)

But is it ok to "cut the cord" like that?, will it always come up without issues ?

hi @Soft, It's not that stupid to have backup plan. I do the same via Siemens Logo webserver for both HCL and HC2.
If a heartbeat mechanism generate an alert (or any other reason to restart HC), I can cut the power if I want.  I barely need to do this (once a year) but it's good mechanism to restart if you're not at home and both HC's always come up again.

for HCL should be no problem, for HC2 since 4.5xx as well. Yes, some data is not read only (as the operating system is), but if you press power button, it will reboot as well without writing back any data to user partition.
