what about the Aeon Labs Multisensor 6

Question

Posted

I am thinking of buying a aeon multisensor 6,

is this working fine with the hc2?

because i want one in a small room and i think the fibaro pir is to ugly (for a small room) and can not be fitted in a ceiling.

so is the multisensor working as it should?

    @TurboWannaBe @ggrizliv

I don't have the room to use a usb charger, what is the estimated life span of the battery?

Mine lasted 2 weeks, you can fit a Fibaro PIR in a Aeon labs ressesor, sometimes a round peg does fit in a square hole!!

@spazpeker if it fits, it would be great

witch one, gen 5 or gen 6?

I have 5 sensors. All sensors has USB power.

one cons you can’t update firmware without Aeon stick. Also if you will bought USB stick you will should

    remove device from HC2

add device to Aeon USB stick

    update firmware

    remove device from usb stick

    add dive to HC2 again

    annoyed as for me.

Same here, useless on battery (Gen 5 and Gen 6) - additionally lots of false alarms, esp. with regard to temperature.

    Cheers

For all those people that said that it is working fine, can you please elaborate on its performance? I got one to use it mainly as a PIR and connected it via usb power and not battery. The PIR is useless as it  doesn't detect movement very well(especially when it is a little dark),  lags a lot(sometimes it register the movement after you have left the room) and the range is much less than advertised. The other sensors are a little off especially the LUX one. Granted I have not updated the firmware as I would need to invest more in aeon labs and this first product experience was not very encouraging plus I doubt that the PIR lagginess and sensitivity could be improved by a firmware tweak.

IMO the fibaro ping pong PIR is way better and runs circles around the multisensor 6.

I use to use them but have gone off them for all the reasons you quoted. Humitity and usb dont make up for flakey performance.

Pir does not work very well, humidity works ok.

Don’t place the sensor in the ceiling mount if you want to read humidity correctly. Due to new airflow between ceiling and room this doesn’t work accurate.
