Help with welcome scene

Question

Posted

Hi all,

I’m having trouble creating a welcome scene.

I need certain lights to come on between 8pm & 5am when I disarm the alarm.

I have created a variable that turns on at 8pm then off at 5am.

Welcome scene is supposed to trigger when variable is on and alarm is disarmed.

My issue is that this scene triggers at 8pm whenever the alarm is disarmed, I need some other condition but can’t figure out what.

When you're saying alarm, you probably mean that some sensors are armed, right?

If so just add another condition to your variable that verifies if the sensor is disarmed.

By the way you can use time based trigger instead of variable.  See below

On the left - turn on the lights at 8pm and sensor disarmed.

On the right - turn off the lights at 5am regardless alarm condition.

Hopefully I understood correctly what do you need!? If not just follow the example and change it accordingly .

Sorry, I should have made myself clearer.

I have a binary sensor connected to my alarm for armed/ disarmed state.

When we come home and disarm the alarm between 8pm and 5am, I would like my welcome scene to trigger.

    Something like this:

    once alarm = disarmed

    if time >8pm and <5am

    then welcome scene on

Issue I have now is the scene triggers at 8pm whenever tha alarm is disarmed, ie when we are already home. I need it to happen on the actual action of disarming.

    Hope that makes sense.

OK... so just add the binary state condition to your exist variable state...

could you post your scene ?

    Sure!

One scene turns variable on then the other one is supposed to trigger the welcome scene.

Security disarmed breached is when an output on the alarm tiggers one of the inputs on the binary sensor.

Thanks for your help with this.

The "Security Disarmed" device should be disarmed not breached... I think

I’ll give that a go but not sure if that’s the issue.

I use the other input of the binary sensor to turn some lights off when I arm the alarm and that works fine.

I believe it works when the sensor breached, right?

I mean when movement detected the lights turned OFF?

I’m not using the sensors for the lights. I’m using outputs on my alarm with the binary input purely for alarm status.

alarm disarmed - breached, is when the alarm is disarmed

alarm armed - breached, is when the alarm is armed.

    They work with no issues.

    I both cases is breached?

As now I understand when alarm:

    1. disarmed the sensor is breached

    2.armed the sensor is safe

I think what @akatar means is remove the trigger condition from your "welcome_trigger" variable...

yess, he he has 2 conditions,

    1 - alarm disarmed

    2 - time of day

i guess both are enabled in the trigger boxes, so untick the time condions box.

So..8 o’clock this evening sitting here watching tv and the lights came on!

I think I need to readdress this completely and start again from scratch.

How would you guys go about making this happen?

@Abacus the alarmstatus must be the first line in youre blockscene

    so:

    if alarm = etc etc

Pretty sure it’s all sorted now.

My issue was I needed to pulse the output on my alarm to trigger the armed/ disarmed condition.

I had them staying on to report armed state- therefore as soon as the time trigger was true the scene ran.

Thanks for all your input guys, much appreciated :)
