Car Presence Detection with Temperature Sensor?

Question

Posted

Dear all,

I'm brand new here in the forum. As a formerly user of Homematic (many years ago) I loved the scripting option which I'm missing at the moment in my Tahoma/Xiaomi-Mi-Smarthome installation. That's why I decided to start with Fibaro, even I know that I need to replace some of the devices I used in the past.

I read already many posts here about car presence detection (for example this:)

)

What I learnt is, that a recognization with Z-Wave products for a "real time" recognization is't possible because it has a time lack as soon as it was out of range for a long time. In my case, I don't really need a real time recognation. I can live with a time lack of some minutes. But I'd be happy to know, which car is at home at the moment. For that reason I thought that it could be a cheap solution to buy a Fibaro Thermostat Sensor and put them into the car. As soon as the sensor doesn't react, the car is out and when it reacts again, the car is in the garage. As I wrote, it's no problem if there is a time lack of some minutes.

Would that work or do you know a better solution for my idea?

Thank you very much for your answer.

Regards,

Dan

Hi @Danielos, maybe you could install the new Fibaro Implant into your cars.

Thank you for the suggestion, @Sjekke. Unfortunately, I can't install a technical device (one car is a company car). So that isn't an option, I think....

In the most cars is a 12v connection that can be used for a mobile phone or navigation. This can be used for the  smart inplant.

Or use a fibaro button ... then you can choose if you want open your garage ...or not ...

Personally, I don’t want it to open everytime I’m nearby with my car. I still want it to be a “manual” instruction ... but that’s me. Every case is different.

@Sjekke: But then it's the same effect, right? Only if you push Fibaro recognizes that you are here... or would you "ping" the button to check if the car is there? So like the solution i suggested in my first post?

Hi @Danielos just curious ... did you implement a solution?

@Sjekke No, I didn‘t implement the solution, sorry! :-( But if there is one available, I‘d be happy to get information about it.

    Hi Everyone.

I am setting this solution up in my car, using the implant exactly as Sjekke suggested.

I am powering it from a Cigarette Lighter socket at the moment, just for testing, then direct wired if it works.

As it powered by 12v, it just keeps looking for the HC2. I have written a simple scene to trigger some LED lights as i drive up.

I should have this up and running soon.

I intend to try and get the scene to integrate with Geo location so that the implant "trigger" is only valid when is close to home.

Not great with the programming side yet.
