Hello Community,
My controler is around 3 years old. Last week when I was out of home suddenly I lost remote connection to my Fibaro HC2. Thought it was some Internet provider issue so did not bother too much. This last however like 5 days so I started suspect some troubles. Once I came back, my HC2 was continiously booting and reseting itself for no reason - LEDs blinking sequence for 2-3 secs and reboot and again. I did not make any update since 4.150 so long long time ago as I found it rock solid and heard lot's of issues with 4.170-4.180.
I noticed that the blue light on PSU dimms a bit during boot up sequence so I figured out it is a load problem (not enough current). I swapped my PSU with a new unit with same working parameters (12V and 1A). Fortunatelly HC2 booted up sucessfully. All seems to work fine. I made a backup just in case and all went fine. Out of sudden in some 0.5-1 hour i lost remote conn again. Came near to controler and it was same story. Actually the booting sequence this time was much longer so I managed to observe 3 LEDs beaing steady and then it was gone, doing a re-cycle sequence again. I connected VGA cable this time and wired my multi-meter to take some measurements. My findings are presented below:
-there are several current peaks above 1 A, up to 1.15A during boot up
-once booted (HC2 and PSU is cooled down) - current load with etherned connected is around 0.99A and oscilates up to 1.02 in idle plus some random peaks +0.3 0.4A extra
-once booted (HC2 and PSU is warmed up - around 40-50 minutes of work ) - current load with ethernet connected is around 1.1 A and oscilates up to 1.04A in idle +0.3-0.4A extra so 1.08A max in total
-when several control commands are sent over fibaro app it generates extra load of 0.2-0.5A so it could be like 1.12 in total when warmed up
-just before it goes down I observe current at level of 1.15 - 1.16A.
-disconnecting ethernet reduce current load around 0.1A
-when I have first problems to boot it up I disconnect Ethernet to make it sucessfully booted, then I connect it but it goes down in some minutes again,
-I see nothing specific in BIOS during boot up sequence but one fail:
Starting periodic command scheduler: cron failed

It all looks to me like overcurent of PCB that leads to PSU shutdown and thus booting cycle again and again. Once PCB is heated enough it's not even able to start in a new cycle due to too high current (up to 1.18A). I am considering to buy a bigger PSU 12V/2A to test it again.
Have anyone experienced similiar problems? Can someone measure current load during idle operations on his oryginal PSU unit?
