What is the maximum system size (HC2)

Question

Posted

Hi there,

I have e very big system running on one HC2 (70 phisical modules, 200+ devices and almost 100 scenes) and I wonder what the largest running system on one HC2 is.

Does anyone have experience running into the limit of the HC2?

Regards

Twan

I used to believe it was possible to get 150 nodes nice and stable but I don't believe this is easy on the current firmware.

Possible in some circumstances it can be done but if it is, it is certainly not as easy as it was.

maybe you could ask what you want... I do not want to share all scenes now as I have to check them all for private info
Also, i am not a poweruser regarding LUA but know enough to get done what I need for now

From my experience the physical size of your network is not that big. I run an almost double size network for a long time. The main issue are the scenes and VD's. If they are properly configured you should not have any huge issues.

    That is great to know!!!...

I don't have any issues at all but I was wondering how far we can go.

    Thanks for the reply

The short answer is yes. The problem with the long answer is - it depends... And when you run into the limit(s) of the HC2  depends on a number of factors, some with interdependencies and some of them dynamic. And btw how do you define the limit(s) - what are you willing to accept - or how often do you accept something - before you say you have reached "the limit"?

I hope you don't feel like I'm being difficult - I simply feel it is indeed a difficult question to answer - but I think @robmac chipped in with a wise comment. My interpretation is: The HC2 is having a hard time at the moment, possibly due to the fact of a general increase in network size, but as important the increase in network traffic due to more advanced nodes, the burden of a mix of legacy and z-wave plus nodes (for most of us), and  possibly also other factors unknown to me...
