HI All,

Im trying to integrate a dumb, electric strike which is 12Volt powered. Currently its triggered via a Gate intercom which unlocks the gate and provides me the ability to unlock the gate from my home automation system.

Im wondering can the Smart Implant or some other device be able to integrate to determine when the strike is opened - ie turn on a virtual switch in my home automation system. I want this switch to trigger when the gate is opened.

I know I could use a Door Sensor  but they requires something magentic and exposed to the elements.

Thanks

I use UBS to get door bell pressed to my HC2 and Fibaro relay switch to activate electric strike on my gate. Together with camera they are integrated into video gate linked device.

I have URMET gate intercom:

which consists of headset to talk with person in front of the gate and push button to activate electric strike lock. Inside this headset I installed UBS which input 1 is connected to door bell push button at the gate and output 1 to door bell. This way I still get door bell activated when push button is pressed but also my HC2 is aware of that so when someone press door bell then I get push notification, camera picture sent to e-mail and TTS notification if we are at home.

I have also installed into this headset one Fibaro relay that is connected parallel to push button for electric strike lock. This ensured that I can use my HC2 to engage electric strike or still use my URMET gate intercom. Moreover I can use Fibaro Button in the kitchen and second momentary switch connected to dimmer2 in garage to activate electric strike. Of course I can also do it from mobile app.

My next upgrade will be adding one more Fibaro switch to activate "Do not disturb" mode on the output of the UBS so I can silent door bell.

I know this is very basic integration of very basic intercom which does not provide remote video conversation with person in front of the gate but it is still great improvement because we can see who was in front of our gate ringing door bell even if we are not at home.

I just need to emphasize that due to difference in supply 230V and switching voltage 12V only this relay modules can be used:

or with additional 230V coil relay can also be used:

Since additional relay needs space to be installed I prefer relay switch modules.

UBS module can also be installed on gate panel and second input used for state of the gate (opened/closed) but remember that also power supply of at least 9VDC is needed there for it to work since battery power for UBS is not recommended.

Also it is important to mention that Fibaro relay switch template parameter 4 Auto off for relay must be set to needed time after which is set back to off. This parameter determines for how long electric strike will be unlock. In my case 8 seconds is sufficient.

I have an Urmet video intercom and an electric strike door lock and would like to use my fibaro relay switch to open the door (auto off after few seconds for sure in parameter 4). I am still not sure what voltage is my electric strike lock. Let’s assume it operates on 12 Vots AC(I’m sure it is AC because I hear a buzzzzz sound).... so all I have to do is connect the output 1 or 2 of the fibaro relay switch to the input of a 220v to 12 v transformer and then to the strike lock? Is that correct? Any other factors I should take into consideration?
N.B. I don’t care about any status change info on the fibaro app... I just want to use the app to open the door in case I forget the keys.
