TKB TZ37 + Fibaro Dimmer 2

Question

Posted

Hi All,

Recently, I have installed TKB Double Relay Wall Switch TZ37 and Fibaro Dimmer 2 in my home. The dimmer is not physically connected to any switch because I want to control it remotely. I am controlling the devices using Domoticz software on Raspberry Pi B+ and Aeotech Z-Stick Gen 5 controller.

My question is, is it possible to control the Fibaro dimmer 2 using TKB Switch TZ37, eg. using association?

I have read the switch's documentation and noticed that it should be possible:

Quote

Group 3 Control: If you associate a Z-Wave device into Group 3, you can turn that device ON or OFF by tapping the top or bottom of the right switch twice. You can brighten or dim devices by tapping the switch once then push and hold the top or bottom of the right switch.

I have assigned the Fibaro node into Group 3 of the switch, but nothing happens when I tap and hold the right paddle of the switch.

Best regards,

Mateusz

Hello, I have a similar problem trying to associate TZ37 with a Qubino flush 2 relays or even with a TZ74 (also from TKBHome). I wrote to TKB and the answer from one of their product manager was: "The TZ37 can not  do a associate to control  the double relay of  the device individually . We are plan to add this support in the futrue". As I was not trying to associate TZ37 to the individual relays of the device, but to the device itself (controlling both relays at the same time), I re-wrote them asking for it and which devices the TZ37 is able to associate with, because there is nothing regarding it in the device specifications, only the 4 groups it can do and that it is Z-Wave Plus. No answer yet to my second mail.

Any possible solution about this problem would be welcomed also by me. Thanks.

Answer I got from TKBHome product manager:

*********

The TZ37 can associate to any Z-wave device. Can you make sure the association set is successful? In the vera Edge you can get the association group information to check the association group.Another you must have a right process to trigger the association control.

For your information:(The operation of the group 1 and 2 is diffrent from TZ36 and TZ56,please attention)

Group 1 Control: If you associate a Z-Wave device into Group 1, you can turn that
device ON and OFF by
tapping the top or bottom of the right switch
, You can brighten or
dim devices by pushing and holding the top of the right switch Dim by pushing and holding
the bottom of the right switch. The load attached to the switch is not affected. The LED
on the right switch will indicate the status of Group 1. Group 1 will be polled at a specific
interval and the LED on the right switch will indicate the status of Group 1. The polling
interval can be configured. The Group1 name is lifeline(Profile MSB=0x00,Profile LSB=
0x01).
Group 2 Control: If you associate a Z-Wave device into Group 2, you can turn that
device ON or OFF by
tapping the top or bottom of the left switch twice
. You can brighten
or dim devices by tapping the switch once then push and hold the top or bottom of the left
switch. The load attached to the switch is not affected. The LED on the left switch will
indicate the status of Group 2. Group 2 will be polled at a specific interval and the LED
on the left switch will indicate the status of Group 2. The polling interval can be configured.
The Group2 name is On/Off Dimmer 1(Profile MSB=0x20,Profile LSB=0x01).

To what I re-wrote:

********************

First of all, the switch I have is TZ37, the one with TWO “real” switches and I am following the indications in the user manual of it. So, if TZ37 can associate to any Z-Wave device, why MY TZ37 is not able to associate with MY TZ74? Again, not to the individual relays of the TZ74, but to the TZ74 itself. If I try to do the association using not the procedure of use the VERA Edge controller but the device itself (on/off switch in TZ37 and TZ74), could you elaborate about which is the exact process step-by-step to do it?:

  1. Should both devices be very close one to the other? Should both devices be close to the VERA Edge controller?

  2. Should I put both of them in “association mode” simultaneously?

  3. Which switch of the two TZ37 has should I use for putting it in “association mode”? Right hand one? Left hand one? Both at the same time?

  4. Should I push repeatedly the ON button of the TZ37 switch or alternate ON and OFF to put the device in association mode?  I tried both things and the led didn’t do what is explained in the manual, by the way.

Is there any particular test I can do or ask VERA support, with which I am still in contact to do, in order to find out if there is any particular problem in either TZ37 or TZ74? I believe that if we solve the problem between TZ37/TZ74 we will be able to solve my real problem with the Qubino relays module.

 Thanks again for your help.

P.S.: BTW, I feel your reference to TZ36 and TZ56 in your answer is not related to my problem. I know 36/56 have only one “real” switch being the right one only a “sender” of Z-Wave command and the difference the size of the device. My device is a TZ37, TWO real switches.

*************

Hope we finally will be able to solve our different, but similar problem.

Answers to my last mails to TKB:

********

The association mode can not to do a association like this use. This mode only can add the device ID into the controller, not set the device ID into the TZ37 device. So the association set must use the VERA Edge conttroller.

Another,to trigger the association mode must press the same On or OFF button three times

********

It's no need to in "association mode".If you use the controller set the association, just need the TZ37 or TZ74 is power on.

********

And I, again re-asked:

So, why if I have both TZ37 and TZ74 powered on, very near each one to the other and using the association procedure of the VERA Edge (Device->TZ37->Device Options->Association->Add group->Set->mark TZ74->Save->Return to options and back), it doesn’t work neither with TZ74 nor Qubino?

Should I suppose my TZ37 is in default and return to my dealer?

Is there anything I myself or VERA support should look for inside the VERA controller in order to find what is failing? Is it any thing and any way to look for it in the TZ37?

********

Will follow......
