Question

Hi,

I have a HC running firmware 4.544 Beta.

In the past I have experienced some issues getting the HC2 to restart properly following a power outage. The HC2 did boot once the power returned but  it hanged during the boot process. When this happend I would either have to turn the HC2 off and back on using the power button the the rear, or I would have to go though the recovery process.

I have attached my HC2 to a 500 W UPS, which solves the problem of short outages. However, the utility company have just announced a planned 4 hour outage during my holliday.

Do anybody know if the above mentioned issue have been addressed by Fibaro, or do anybody have a suggestion on how to mitigate longer power outages (other than buying a really large UPS)?

I was considering shutting down the HC2 in a controlled manner shortly before the planned outage but I guess that there is no way to restart the HC2 remotely?

Best regards

JASE-DK

Please do not llaugh ;)

1) HC2 do not support UPS monitoring directly. considering that fact HC2 has usb and installing Debian package it’s 5 min. Ok. forgot it

2) my UPS connected to NAS QNAP and my mini VD time to time grab information about UPS status. If UPS in batt mode more than 15 HC2 makes himself a harakiri and shutdowns

3) cuz HC2 sometime as you can say may hang on start... HC2 plugged into.... (not laugh) China 10$ Socket from ali express - SONOFF. And I can reset power when HC2 die on start via Sonof relay

4) cuz I am old paranoiac  SONOFF port is private and controlled by rPI. So rPI time time ping 80 port of HC2 and if HC2 is not responded - reset HC2 via SONOFF socket locally.

Update SonOff FW with FW without clouds

plug HC2 into this socket

configure (ha ha) another pc like rPI (raspberry pi) for running in cron tab script

ping HC2 if not pinging curl get SonOff turnoff sleep curl get SonOff turnon

thats should works like a charm

Hi @10der

thanks for sharing.

How do you manage the scenario where you  harikari the HC2 but the power comes back.

What triggers the HC2 to power back up?

thanks

Frank hi

1) this script only for checking dead HC2 (HC2 unresponsive. At all)

2) crontab

3) after power outages UPS up HC2 automatically
