Is there any way to use dimmer2 as a double switch? (non dimmable)

Question

Posted

Hi,

I just buy wrong one....

I don't use dimmable litght, so I just need double switch 2. But I missunderstood the spec, so it happened  :(

I live far away from Europe, so it's more expansive to return.

Is there any way to use dimmer2 as a double switch? or single switch?

Light's are LED with SMPS(Power supply) included.

And L = 220V,  Neutral wire exists.

Thank you for reading this. :)

If you are asking whether it is possible to control two separated outputs from one Dimmer 2 then no, there is no such posibility. The Dimmer 2 has only one physical output (controlled from S1). To control two circuits you will need to connect another Dimmer. However there is possibility to control two or more Dimmers or Relay Switches from one module using association.

Association (linking devices) is a direct control of other devices within the Z-Wave system network e.g. Dimmer, Relay Switch, Wall Plug, Roller Shutter or scene (may be controlled only through a Z-Wave controller).

To find more about associations for Dimmer 2 check out the manual

Also, please note that switch connected to the S1 terminal is a master switch. It activates the basic functionality of the Dimmer 2 (turning the light on/off, dimming) and starts the learning mode (Add/Remove). The switch connected to the S2 terminal is an optional switch and pushing it without changing the configuration parameters will not affect the status of the device. Functionality of the switches can be reversed by adjusting parameter 22.

    Thank you for early reply.

So it's obviously not possible to wiring just like link below? (See

     's second diagram option 2)

    I just want to use a dimmer2 with 2 physical switches(in a box)

And control on/off by physical switches and Smartthings.

@daywork2r, Dimmer can recognise if load is dimmable or not (Parameter 33 if you can see it). Then it would be like Single switch (slider in UI will not work). If you connect lights to it then it would only control them as on/off devices, but i advice, that both lights to be same.

I do not know how Smartthings work, so maybe i'm wrong in next steps.

It would need Z-Wave bulb tho.

Can you use scene control on Dimmer 2 in Smartthings, so you could make some scene or if you could make associations from Dimmer 2 on groups 4 and 5 to the Z-Wave bulb (ZigBee bulb only for scenes), it would be sollution too.
