Power Metering - Supply or Consumer

Its been mentioned before on the other forums, but how difficult would it be to differentiate between a supplier of energy i.e. power from grid or solar and consumer of energy i.e. plug / socket / light?

I have a light switches and sockets that monitor energy along with some devices where I have manually entered the power rating.  I also have a Aeon clamp meter on my incoming supply, so what happens, HC2 totals them all up and tells me the wrong overall consumption where it would be nice to know what my total consumption was, the individual consumers and what the rest of the house is using.

Its a simple boolean to add to each power monitoring device.  Consumer = add, supplier = subtract, take the arithmetic difference and that's the rest of the house.

Other thing that would be useful would be to allow virtual devices to register themselves as power measurement.  Example, get your current energy readings from your energy provider's web service using a VD
