05-12-2019 Alexa is not able to control my devices

Question

Posted (edited)

Gents

Out of sudden, Alexa is not able to control any of my discovered devices. There was no shut-down, not configuration change in my Fibaro HC2. I am still on 4.150 and it has been working just fine until today. Any reason?

Problem has been solved thanks to Fibaro support. For some reason exactly the same email address used for super admin and another user made Alexa confused and not able to control or search for devices. It is a bit strange as this used to work in my case for long long time so probably there have been some implementation change in alexa-fibaro skill recently

They suggested to change my user configuration so that every email is unique for each user. In my case I had a superadmin and another account with same email assigned. I would not came to that conclusion if not a Fibaro suggestion as I had this configuration for long long time and there was no issue at all.

Thanks for the reply. At the end, are you using the super admin or a normal user to access Alexa? Thanks again

Unfortunatelly, you always have to use superadmin if you want Alexa to find your devs. This is a bit poor concept from security perspective imo. Amazon/Alexa link should be built based on some normal user lets say with limited access in fibaro controler.

Well...what should I say...this idea solved my problems, too.

Hard to believe that suddenly malfunctions appear although you did not change anything...it‘s not a bug, it‘s a feature.

    At the end, we‘ve learned:

    1. Alexa needs the superuser

    2. The superuser‘s emailadress must not be the same as a user‘s one.
