Issue with SRT321 & SSR303 gen 5 thermostat & receiver

Question

Posted (edited)

Hi.

I have 8 TRV rad valves, 2 existing SSR303 receiver (boiler) switches, 2 SRT321 thermostats running with my HC2 unit. All works hunky dorey, fine. I've just added a new SSR303 receiver and SRT321 thermostat to control a new underfloor heating pump. The problem is the new SRT321 & SSR303 are running with completely different templates to my existing devices of the same make/model.

I think I have found the problem though....

It appears that the new SRT321 and SSR303 are ‘gen 5’ models whereas my older SRT321 and SSR303 are not.

Consequently, the HC2 is identifying the new models and their features differently to the old ones.

Anyone got an idea how I can get the HC2 to use the same template for the new gen 5 as it did for the older models?

There's many differences but the main issue is that the existing SSR303 receiver has been added as some sort of power switch. It has the following details in the advanced tab in the HC2:

Device kind        : com.fibaro.operatingModeHorstmann

Producer            : Horstmann Controls Limited

Version               : 2.0

There is no ‘controlled device’ setting.

The new SSR303 receiver has the following detail in the advanced tab of the HC2:

Device kind        :On / Off Switch

Producer            :Horstmann Controls Limited

Version               :2.1

This has ‘device grouping’ and is set as ‘Other device’ in the ‘controlled device’ setting.

Clearly these are different and I've tried to delete the devices and add them many many times to see if it was a comms issue or something else... nothing seems to work and Fibaro tech support are blaming the firmware on the new models... there's no option to update or revert the firmware!!

Further, the new gen 5 thermostat in the SRT321 does not allow configuration of timing where I can set the temperature at 20 degrees for say 2 hours. It just allows the setup of the temperature and says 'heating' where the time value would be configured.

I've added the existing and new device template XML files in case anyone were so inclined to look through them.

Basically the new devices are totally inferior to the old ones and I've lost most of the original functionality... the new units are actually being added into the HC2 in the same basic manner that they get added into a Vera rather than the feature rich additions the old ones have in my HC2.

I'm sure it must be that the HC2 sees these new units as something different and so uses a template to configure them that's different to the old ones I just don't know how to get the right template applied to the new devices.

Oh and I've been waiting for a response from Fibaro tech support all day today and just noticed that although they asked me a question in their response yesterday they've actually marked my call as resolved!!!

Just for everyone that hasn't read this... Fibaro tech support have asked their developers to add the template in for the new version of these devices. Hopefully it will be in one of the firmware releases.
