Question

Posted

When my HC2 freezes and has to be rebooted all is fine except for the date and time picks some random date and time in the past, this stops any time based scenes functioning correctly.

As i work away from home is there anyway the date and time can be reset remotely using a VD or scene?

Thanks in anticipation

If you have configured your home location correctly (Home Center configuration / Place) then you should have the right time when HC2 restarts.
Previously there were scenes that adjusted the right time in HC2, but then Fibaro made a change in firmware that rebooted HC2 every time the time changed and then that scene became useless.
The fact that your HC2 freezes is not normal and is likely due to an incorrectly written scene or VD. So check your scenes and look in the debug window to find any errors.

What @RH_Dreambox said, plus:  if it does that, after power off, then the CMOS battery (3V CR2032 with wires and connector) might be too low to keep time and settings. It typically lasts for about 5 years. It takes a bit of skill to replace it, lot's wires, ordering a part with the same connector. I broke my connector and soldered the wires to the board, clumsy me! :)

The issue with freezing appears to be when i have edited/written a scene remotely and takes a while to save ? Sometimes it reboots with correct time/date so feel the cmos battery is ok, but will check out other ideas  you have given.

    thanks both for your time

I see. Not sure what is going on. I don't think anyone posted about having the wrong time after crash or reboot in the last year or maybe longer. Also crashing by saving scenes does not sound familiar. I think it is worth mailing to support and ask if they can do remote diagnosis and have a look at log files. This is a long shot and I do not want to alarm you but if the system freezes during write you might have some sort of corruption. Or maybe an issue with the file system or flash memory. Speaking of flash, if you have firmware 4.5xx then the recovery drive should be removed, it is no longer used and can cause weird issues if it is broken.

Hi Peter, is this internal in the device?

If you are running 4.5XX all you need is the internal drive (plugging in, on top of the motherboard). You can remove the USB dongle that is plugged in next to the ethernet cable on the outside, it serves no purpose.
