Remote access to HCL

Question

Posted

Hi All,

I would like to have remote access to HCL interface NOT through the fibaro cloud but directly through dynDNS as I do it with my camera and my PC on the same LAN. For this, I opened an internal and an external port for the HCL but no way to access it. Is there a limitation in the number of the ports ?

I asked the same question some weeks ago, but no reply. Hope this time...

Thanks in advance for your help.

 Jozsi

I don’t use port forwarding to access my HC without using Fibaro Cloud, so can’t help you with that.

I would recommend you to create (if possible) a VPN to your home network. No issues with port forwarding of every device and also more save to access without the whole world being able to acces the login page.

Thank you, Kevin for your rapid reply.

Unfortunately, my router (Livebox4, Orange, France) does not support VPN. So I have to stuck with port communicartion.

You will have to forward in your router a port from outside to inside. Inside will be the ip address of your HCL with port 80 and outside you can choose a free port.

    Thanks SmartHomeEddy.

If I understood you correctly, the internal port 80 is mandatory for HCL. Unfortunately for my IP-camera (Digitus, OptiDome) the same applies. That means no solution besides changing the camera.

    Thank you.

It is the combination between the external IP and external port (you can define the external port yoursekf) abd the internal IP address of your HCL. The port of other devices have nothing to do with it.

    example

    212.142.33.55 port 5001   forward to   192.168.0.10 port 80

So when your are not home and on the internet you fill in browser 212.142.33.55:5001

which will forward to your HCL on 192.168.0.10

(the IP addresses are an example only and depend on your dynDNS and HCL IP address)

    I don't understand your assumption...

You can forward different external ports to different IP with same port 80... that's the idea of the port forwarding. It's was enabled for PCs before IP camera... all PCs have port 80

    See an example

Please login or register to see this spoiler.

    Now just type in browser

    http://<public-IP>:<extPort>

and you should receive HCL's  login page
