Question

Posted

Hi have a fibaro motion detector mount several places in the house and want to use them as an alarm as well .We have a small cat that is always at home. Does anyone know what setting I can use on the Fibaro without it being activated due to the cat?

We have a little dog, I have set the sensitivity on 25 and that works. But keeps in mind you have to wake up the sensor after you changed the parameters.

Maybe first try it with a simple scene, for example with a push message. Run it during some time when you should arm the alarm and see if your setting are right and maybe adjust.

Hi man, keep in mind that pir do not need to be placed in top, but you can mount them also in the bottom part.

I'll give you an example with this attached picture,

If you have a dog, it's better to put the sensor at at least 1m high and point it up, so you will create a "safe curtain"  for everything under that meter.

For cat this is not simple, you have to keep in mind that they love to jump and get everywhere..

So, find a place where the cat can't go too much close to the sensor, point it in a strategic place. Beware radiator and heat source!!! They can cause false alarm..

Create a first "silent test scenario" where you can understand if the sensivity is ok,

I suggest you to do not touch sensivity, work with parameter 3, the pulse counter. That parameter will determine The number of detection needed before sending an alarm. With a cat it can be better to set 2-3 pulse

You can also work with parameter 4, the window time, you can try to put a lower window to decrease sensivity.

Default is 2-12 second. So, if one pulse is detected in a wondow of 12 second it is going to be an allarm. This is great for home automation but not good for an alarm panel. Especially with cat.

I sugget you to try 2-3 pulse and a window of 1-8 second. Put the ir in a nice place and make a walk test,

If it does not work, decrease window time,

After that i think it will work.. if you put 0-4 sec and 3-4 puls you can have a ryno in your living room hehe..

Tell me what kind of setting work better!!

Have a nice day man!!
