Using 3rd party extenders when not strictly needed?

Question

Posted

Hey gang,

I have been rebuilding my hsoue the last few years, and ramped up my Fibaro learnings during that time.

Our rental has been a double brick house with internal brick walls. I was finding I needed 2x Aeotec extender units to get an end to end mesh network across the house.

Now in the new house with lots of hardwired lighting devices and less attenuating internal walls, my network behaves itself as is....but I have these 2x extenders up my sleeve.

Might they be of any value? Or would they just be more devices clogging up polling times etc?

I would start without them, use the zwave monitor scene to see how the zwave network looks like. If you see week spots, that's were you need to place them
