Code to turn off and on a device when a number of other devices are all off or on

Question

Posted

My heating is controlled with 13 actuators turning on the radiators and a single pump, I want the pump to run when any actuator/rad is on and turn off only when they are all off. My problem is the pump gets turned off when the first room gets hot leaving the other rads cold. I think this is only possible with code which I am totally new to. Any advice/help would be great thanks.

This is definitely doable with LUA. Sounds like Its going to take you a while to make it all work, just keep plugging away.  Suggestions: search on vesternet.com for their tutorials, they are really good. Then start by making a diagram or flow chart of your program logic.  Next, make block scenes and convert them to LUA, which you can then edit as you learn.

Alternatively, you could pay someone to create the code.

I would probably start by examining what is incorrectly connected in your current heating system.

Because it is not reasonable for the pump to be switched off as 12 other units call for heat.

Hi @Dacron

Your project with the heater and the pump is easily possible.
But first we should talk about whether and how and why you want to do it.
Modern heating circuits and heaters need a water circuit otherwise they may not work at all.
Some heating systems regulate with the return temperature or also use the pump to heat the hot water circuit.
Remember that modern pumps are energy-optimized and if there is no need they regulate them down anyway and that by themselves.
It is also the case that pumps do not like it that much when they are switched off, they can quickly become stuck.
That would be my concern.
But if that doesn't apply to you, the question arises, what do you want to do that with?
Do you have programming experience?
Are you ready to invest some money?
Do you have an old building or are you currently building?
Your request is of a general nature and a simple yes would be enough to answer it, but I think you would like to know more.
So it wouldn't be bad if you would describe something in more detail then someone can help you better.
You can tell the problem from my questions.

Greetings from Germany / Sauerland

Thank you for your reply's and so sorry it's taken me so long to answer, my family has had a terrible time with Covid and my minds been elsewhere. I'm glad to say I've managed to get my heating system working perfectly and in the end I didn't need any Lua to do it.
