HCL repair - customs duty

RBS

Question

Hi,

My HCL failed and I sent it to Poland for service/repair using DPD. I received an email from Fibaro to say because of Brexit there is a €72 customs duty charge that I must pay. I agreed to pay this charge but my HCL is now being sent back to me without repair.

What do I need to do to successfully send my HCL to Poland for repair?

Shipping costs almost as much as what a new HCL costs to buy. It is not worth the cost to repair your HCL.
I would definitely buy a new HCL, or why not a used HC2.
There are many used HC2 now when HC3 is available for purchase. I myself have 2 HC2's that are now collecting dust when I have bought HC3.

But unfortunately I do not live in the UK, then you would have received it for free.

That sounds like a terrible experience to not get something repaired. You could  buy a new system for not a lot more than that.  There is one that sounds like a past UK highstreets shop that is a big improvement over HCL.

  • Thanks all for the advice and RH_Dreambox for the offer of a used HC2.

My HCL is out of warrantee but because of the customs problem Fibaro have offered to fix for free. I have called and emailed Fibaro a number of times but no joy, I would resend to Fibaro if I had confidence at their end.

The HCL crashed during an update and does not respond to a full reset.

My problem is that if I buy a used/new HCL I will have to set up from scratch. It was originally set up by someone else (supplier) and I have no back up. The supplier is not helpful and no longer stocks fibaro. Are their tutorials that will guide me through the  set up?
