Not working:

- Ugreen 30985

- what so ever adapters with ASIX AX88772C chipset (VID_0B95-PID_772B)

Working:

- Adapters with ASIX AX88772A chipset

@tinman we tested UGreen too and was working. From check of engineer I know that the ground was not shorted, which suggests a hardware failure of the adapter

UGREEN USB 2.0 100 Mbps (Model 20254) is using the AX88772A chipset. go check tomorrow whether this cheap adapter also works. Will let you know :)

Update:

UGREEN USB 2.0 Ethernet Model 20254 + OTG splitter cable is working perfectly!

UGreen does produce lot of adapters, some AX88772(A) based (they should work, till now any other 8872(A) was working), some AX88179 based (no idea, haven't tested), and some AX88772C based (and that's what i tested, "clone" with same chipset and original)

what do you mean? the test on my HC3L? Both Ugreen and clone worked with Win10 TV Stick, and the clone work on ubuntu as well (I have send back Ugreen to seller)

wait, or do you mean the HC3L need ID pin connected ground (which is actually OTG host mode) to recognize something? That my explain why Jakub got working, he used the OTG cable, while i decided to buy adapter with micro USB (to save cables). Let me check my cables ...

one can have tons of cables, the "proper" one is never there ... anyway, soldered pulldown 0R (in place of not populated D301), the AX88772C will still not get recognized by HC3L.

I woud say "who cares", now after i read the i.MX6ULZ hardware guide, i know that the USB ID pin need to be connected to GND to allow OTG Host mode. The ugreen clone adapter does not use ID pin in the connector, so useless for HC3L. I will switch to another adapters, with USB A plug, and will use OTG adapter.

question: would it also be possible to power the HC3Lite via POE? That would unclutter my serverrack quite a bit!

I was actually thinking about that. In my case, I would introduce following to chain.

Ah yes! That would work. But that would

also mean 3 adapters chained together. :-)

theoretically it could be done with 1 rj45 to micro-usb adapter.

(or just use your proposed adapter and still use wifi)

When I looked at this problem, that was the only think I came with. Unfortunatelly those PoE to any usb separate power to usb and data to PoE. Atleast that comes to my mind when I look at such adapter.

Yes, if such "adapter" would have transformer from 48-54V to 5V and data for USB 2.0.

It is SR9900A based, and under windows not detected (but windows driver is on self-contained flash drive).

Tested with Yubii / HC3L and works without any issues, immediately detected even in recovery mode.
