Read variable after n characters in LUA

Hello, I would need to read part of a variable after n characters and then another up to - n characters
example 1 e 2

 

     tempo = il tempo è bello 

must become

   tempo 1 = tempo è bello 

and 

   tempo = tempo bello e 12°C

must become

  tempo1 = tempo bello e 12

how can I do?

Yep, 

and instead of thinking about cutting the string at specific places (n) - think of it as string transformations using Lua string pattern functions.

then you are safe if the string changes a bit...
