HC2-YYYYYY avahi-daemon[19212]: Got SIGTERM, quitting

midi

Question

Hello I found a lot of regular entries in HC2 (4.600) /var/log/messages starting with "avahi-daemon[19212]: Got SIGTERM, quitting.":

Please login or register to see this code.

This issue is caused by this Fibaro watchdog script: /opt/fibaro/scripts/avahiWatchdog.sh.

This script checks if avahi-resolve command return the proper value, but without dbus enabled this avahi-resolve command returns only: "Failed to create client object: Daemon not running".

To fix this just:

mount -o remount,rw /

vi /etc/avahi/avahi-daemon.conf

uncomment this line:

#enable-dbus=yes

to

enable-dbus=yes

Save.

mount -o remount,ro /

Restart your dbus and avahi daemon with:

/etc/init.d/S30dbus restart
/etc/init.d/S50avahi-daemon reload

After this change everything seems to work fine.

  • I believe the warranty in such case can be canceled.

I decided to do so to help Fibaro team to fix some rare errors in HC2 (they can't be detected via HC2 user interface).
