HC2 has only one LED on.

Question

Posted

Hello! ... for no reason, today, I could not connect to HC2 even though I had all 3 LEDs on. I turned HC2 on and off. then after all the leds in the start sequence have been lit, only the first led has lit up and so it has remained. I don't see it in the local network anymore, the led on the modem does not light up when it is connected to rj45, practically disappeared, I don't see their IP or MAC anymore. There are 4,600 up-to-date updates. Hardware Fault? Can you help me with a suggestion? Thank you in advance.

From the top of my memory, the 2nd LED means "ethernet (not) connected". So it could be hardware, eg a bad cable. But ports are very robust. Or maybe you have a "managed switch" and for some reason that switch has set the port "administratively down" which some models do if there are too many errors. I own such a switch. I would start with a different ethernet cable. Than lastly, if this unit is more than 5 years old, its CMOS clock battery may be very low and this causes all sorts of weird issues like "boot problems". Not sure if it can cause ethernet trouble. But You'll find some posts if you type in: "CMOS" in the search field.

I have had HC2 since 2018. I haven't had any problems so far and it suddenly broke down.

If your warranty period after 2 years is over: just connect USB keyboard and monitor display to HC2 VGA or HDMI port and check what is going on during the boot up sequence.

Enter into BIOS (F2) and check if there are any system faults (if the time and date are incorrect set this is probably the CMOS battery problem - replace it).

Try to boot some Linux distribution (live pendrive - like Knoppix or Ubuntu) to check if this is not a hardware problem (i.e. you can do a memory test, network adapter test).

When you boot up Linux sistribution mount and check the HC2 filesystems (read only) - and see the logs in /var/log to verify the boot log.

Have you maybe tried to replace power feed? You can also try to turn on your HC using power button on casing? (yes I know it may sound weird but there is a chance it will help)

Yes I tried, I also replaced the network cable, I restarted it. It disappeared from my network, I can't see it, maybe the network card failed.

Yup, looks like it may be the case... I think the last resort is an attempt to connect it directly with computer. Small chance but a chance.

Hello everyone, thank you for everyone's help, I felt indebted for an answer. HC2 had to arrive in Poland where the NAND chip and SLE chip were replaced. Now it works very well. Thanks to the one who helped me in this way as well.
