Global Cache Itach Volume Slider String in LUA

Question

Posted

Long time Vera and HC2 user, but first time poster. I have read many posts and utilised Sankotronics excellent posts as motivation and learning to have a successful HC2 controlled home, that the family enjoys and expects now as “standard”.

Our  home theatre system works via a Global Cache Itach wired IP  interface, and they are all virtual devices. This zone has been pretty solid for 5 years.

However for the volume command for the Marantz ZR7011 , I have two buttons Vol+ and Vol -

The LUA string for each is:

Volume up button: sendir,1:1,0,36000,5,1,33,30,33,30,33,30,65,30,33,30,33,30,33,30,33,62,65,30,33,30,33,30,33,32660x0D0x0A

Volume down button:

sendir,1:1,0,36000,5,1,33,30,65,62,65,30,33,30,33,30,33,30,33,62,65,30,33,30,33,62,33,32340x0D0x0A

The fifth numeral in each of the strings “5” ensures that of each push of the relevant volume button I have +5 or -5 db volume change,

This works fine, but there is potential for improvement of the user interface. Namely,  we would  really like to have a horizontal slider for volume control.  I have read the various forums and can make slider controls that work in the emulator and on end devices when not via the Global Cache  Itach , but I have not worked out the code to make a LUA string with the variable  that works via the Itach.

I can see in the forum since 2012 people have posted this question, but most end up like me with a % up and  down button, or individual buttons for % change. Has anyone broken through and written the code for a volume slider that works on virtual devices via the Global Cache Itach that they would like to share, or point me to the relevant post that would help resolve this?
