Stuck on "Starting Services" after upgrade from 4.570

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi,

Today I wanted to upgrade my HC2 from 4.570 to this release.

The process has been forever stuck on "Starting Services".

After more than an hour I performed a restart, with the same result.

At the moment, HC2 is dead in the water.

Any help is greatly appreciated :-)!

Thanks!

The boot sequence (judging by the flashing lights) is as follows:

    - It seems to be booting just fine. One by one the lights stop blinking

    - Just as it is about to light up the last light all lights turn off. Nothing happens

    - Most of the time it restarts that sequence after a while

    - Sometimes nothing happens and I have to turn it back on

    - When I get the "Starting Services" screen, the right 3 lights are on

If so, and you haven't already done so, I would clear the browser cache.

    Hi @jwi,

    Thanks for replying.

I tried that, including different browsers and devices.

All mobile apps also stopped working, automated scenes as well.

Did you try to restore a backup in recovery mode?

When I tried the "repair" option in recovery mode, it returned an "image corrupted" message.

    and another image?

Maybe you should contact support and tell them your unit is offline.

In my experience they respond quite fast

Unfortunately I don't have a locally stored backup - only on the HC2 or cloud. I did create a ticket as well last night, referencing this post.

    Thanks for your response!

There are multiple backups in the cloud right?
Start the unit in recovery mode, recover and fully wipe the unit.

Then login to the (empty) unit with default Fibaro admin password (i think its is admin as user, admin as password)

    then restore the backup

Yeah that was going to be my last resort. Would be a timely process, but certainly doable.

I will give support some time to respond as well, perhaps there is a less painful way :D.

I tried the api/service/logsDump endpoint, which did give me a LogsDump.tar.gz, but my mac is complaining it is corrupted :(

Hi @Twannie, in the end I did the wipe and restore.

I always thought it would bring the HC2 back to the version it came with when I bought it and then I would have to go from update to update...

But, to my (positive) surprise, it ended up straight on 4.610 and I could immediately restore the last backup...

All systems back up and running!

    Thanks all for your help!
