Double 2 switch - S1 2 Way & S2 3 way

Benjie500

Question

Hi all,

I hope that someone will be able to help, me and my sparky have been banging our heads against the wall  with this.

I am just starting out on my journey with fibaro. Managed to get most of my fibaro kit installed and working, without too much hassle.

Is it possible to use a double 2 switch to control to 2 lighting circuits with the following configuration:

S1 with a 2x 2 way switch. Toggle switches. Controlling Q1 light fitting.

S2 with 2x 2 way switch with an intermediate switch in the middle. Toggle switches. Controlling Q2 light fitting.

I can't seem to get all the light switches and the Zwave control to play together nicely. On S1 can only get 2 out of 3 control methods working. On S2 only get 2 out of 3 control methods working.

I think my sparky is about to rip the double switch out and throw it in bin! And to be honest I can't blame him.

I/my sparky would appreciate a wiring diagram, plus any parameters that need to be configured in order to get this working.

Does parameter 20 come into play.

Thanks

I do not think I have ever seen a diagram that completely describes what you want... But this site has a ton of related 2 and 3 way diagrams. Here's a starting point:

I think one possible complication you might have is that all L and N refer to the same circuit (are on the same breaker)

The diagrams on Vesternet complement those on manuals.fibaro.com

where are you based? maybe an idea to find a local fibaro installer.

alternativly if you can draw something to describe what you have?

If I understand correctly, this is fairly easy to achieve. Line diagrams, where 2 way and intermediate switches are wired as you would in a non-smart home:

Live --- 2 way sw === 2 way switch --- S1

Live --- 2 way sw === intermediate sw === 2 way switch --- S2

Parameter 20 stays as default (2 = toggle)

Good Morning fellow Fibaro installers. Just wondering if you managed to get the above configuration to work?

I have exactly the same set up wired into a house, switching lights without the FGS-223 works fine,

but once the FGS-223 is installed i can't get the Intermediate lighting circuit to latch or trigger via the remote switches (works fine via the App),

I've tried changing Parameter 20 but have no luck. I'm an electrician by trade.

Below is a wiring diagram showing my current setup.

Hi Geoff- Your diagram looks correct. And you've ruled out a wiring problem because it works without the fibaro device. I can't see how it would be related to having an intermediate switch, but you could check by temporarily swapping S1 and S2.

I think it could be an incorrect parameter setting. Are you sure you haven't turned on the delayed start setting for S2?

Please post how you go.
