Create a hotel switch without actual connection

Azkikr

Question

I have one dimmer connected to a lamp in my kitchen.

On another place I have a switch, which is not connected to anything yet. It is not in any way connected to the dimmer.

The dimmer is on one side of the kitchen and the 'empty'-switch on the other end.
I would like to create a hotel-switch with the two. So I want the light to switch on or off with the use of the dimmer, but also with the use of the 'empty'-switch.

I tried to create a grouping between the two, but that just make one of them react to the other and not the other way around.

Also I tried to change state with one of them when the other changes state. However I can only manage that in one way. If I try it the other way around as well, they will try changing each others states continuously (I haven't tried that one though).

What is the best way to solve this?

Maybe through a Lua scene?

Your thoughts are appreciated!

  • Solved the following way:

I have added a Magic Scene.

IF "'empty'-switch" changed state, THEN "kitchen light" opposite state.

    This seems to work.
Hope it can help anyone trying to make a switch without a physical connection between the boxes.
