Smart Implant constantly stops responding

Simon W

Question

I have a smart implant on a gate control, one output in use and one input. About 8 times in the last 48 hours it has dropped off the ZWave network completely but come back... after the last time it has now dropped completely. It has done this before after first install, and the "fix" was to disconnect power to it and 'reboot' it.

This is surely not normal or acceptable. I see from posts online that others have had similar issues - is there a fix (other than use something else)?

How far is the gate from the nearest powered zwave device? It may be that the signal is too weak. You could try adding another powered zwave device in between as a repeater. Eg fibaro wall plug

  • It's about 10cm from the nearest fully powered ZWave network device (a Fibaro Double Switch). So no that's not the problem.

    @Simon W

    This may be affected by the electromagnetic field around the motor. Can you try to place the Smart Implant outside the engine compartment? Simply changing the position will usually help.
    Has it been working since the beginning of the SI installation, or has it worked without a problem for some time?

  • It's about 4m away from the motor. The issue I suspect is the integration with Vera Plus. I've just got an Aeotec USB stick, I'm going to pair it to that and see if it stays talking to that for longer than it does to Vera. It has only worked sporadically since installed last week.

  • Appears to be working fine with the Aeotec Z-Stick, so it looks like it's the Vera connection that was the issue.
