My smile is not honest anymore - Aeotec Nano Mote Quad - button 1 in association

Question

Posted (edited)

After half a year of struggling to find any remote controller for Fibaro roller shutter 3  i gave it up, as Tinman opened my eyes finally, that it is not possible to get Aeotec or Sunriche zwave remote controllers to work with Fibaro as they can't send anything else just 255 for ON state of button 1.

Now i am getting into very similar situation with my simple street door controlling..

My street door is a simple Fibaro smart implant acting as a binary switch, just to Open or Close my door...

And it works fine, however if i wanted to find a remote controller to control my door from distance, i got into a situation what is pretty similar to me from the problems with RS3.

I am using Aeotec Nano Mote Quad, which is pretty nice and steady device. It can controll really nicely anything except if I want to use associations for button 1 (GROUP2)..

I am attaching screenshot from my association setting. Currently i have associated my Gate to group 8 and its working fine even with NANO MOTE.  (my gate is the same as my door..just a smile smart implant)

My street door, doesnt work on Group 2 (button1)..its inexplicable to me..and this is happening with every other remote controller...(always the first Group..maybe its just a coincidence)

I am attaching the manual of the button also, maybe some more experienced eye can see the source of the problem..

(I just can't get it..Honestly, i am having preblems with almost every single brand if it comes to associations in Fibaro...)

Please make my day, and tell me that I didn't throw my money out of the window again, just because of Fibaro...

Thanks in advance

might be issue with singlechannel remote sending to multichannel target.

Try something different, associate nanomote to any other simple switch (smart implant is complex device), to check if button1 is really working.

Sending singlechannel association to Smart Implant will trigger 1st output in the device.
Using multichannel you can specify if 1st or 2nd output will be controlled (just make sure that you are sending the association to endpoints which triggers outputs of the implant).

If 8th group is working and it is the same in the manual as group 2 (the same commands) then it is probably an issue with the remote, zniffing this is the only real solution to be sure.

As for Fibaro modules behavior when receiving certain commands - they work exactly as specification requires (value 255 for every multilevel device must return to previous non-zero position).
This is something we cannot change and pass certification process.

I understand your point of view, really.
Unfortunately changing device behavior on receiving certain commands (for example using Command Class Configuration) will result with failed Z-Wave certification and there won't be a module on the market.

    PS
Our Keyfob has configurable values which are send in the associations, and this is the only way to be protocol compliant and make associations with the shutters work as supposed.

    Dear Roszak,

    Thanks fopr the response..

I can hardly believe, that this is an issue of the remote, as we have tried 3 different brands, and all of them behave teh same way.

All the remote controllers in the world have the same functionality probably, and none of them work with Fibaro multichanell devices. (group 2 never works)

Fibaro keyfob could be a way to go, if it wasn't so badly developed, that it is more likely to become a toy for a kid rather than use as a keyfob. All my family members (4 people) had been using Fibaro keyfob for doors, gates etc..The keyfobs not survived more than 1-2 months. All of them either shattered after a drop, or battery lost connection inside so it stopped to work..

On the other hand Fibaro keyfob can not be used for shutters anyway. It has only 4 buttons. It is not situated for shutters unfortunatelly.

As my clients all asked me for remote controllers for they ZWave shutters, i had nothing left to do just stop looking for some association solution, and we went for scenes.

Anyway, big thank for the response.

    No problem.

I can take some zniffer logs from controlling Implant with singlechannel and multichannel association - I am sure it will work as designed and within required specification.

Just let me know if you need them (for example for the contact producer of the remote), preparing them will take some time.

As for 2nd group issue, devices does not know what controlling them - so it can't be that.

    Regards,

    Michał
