If you have huge traffic in network then it is possible that ZW chip just reject the command to enter inclusion/exclusion/learn mode.

If it is possible to start them on second or third try then it may suggest high traffic.

We can help you figure it out of you like until there will be some additional tools for the users to diagnose the network.

Michał

If you (or your customer) added a "Z-Wave secondary controller", like a "Silabs UZB Dongle" or some remote controllers, the new device might have got the role of "inclusion controller". Then, when you remove that device (it used to happen whatever method you used, either "reset" or really proper inclusion, but that might no longer apply to recent HC3/HC2 firmwares, V2or V3 engine ... I don't know, too many combinations to test)... you can no longer include any device...

Asking people if they have added a Z-Wave controller is like asking "What is the quantum mechanical Planck constant"... Though it should be in the manual (eg Remote ZRC 90) in cryptical terms. Check if the device has (had) a "LEARN" button, that is a good indication.

If this has happened, then, when you click add device you immediately (<1 second) get this "Learning mode error". If it is something else, then the inclusion timer starts counting down and you get the error after a longer time-out.

AFAIK the easiest way to recover from this is restore a know good backup, or ask support to fix this. They can send commands to the HCx controller make it inclusion controller again.

I've had this experience several times with HC2, I am less sure about HC3 because I stopped ............. adding controllers to my HCx .... to avoid this problem!
