Walli Dimmer staircase connection - Switch vs Controller

mi38k

Question

Hi all,

I am going to connect Walli Dimmer in staircase connection, but I am wondering, if it is better to use Walli Switches or Walli Controllers (in powered mode) as a secondary devices. What is the best practice here? I will be glad for every opinion :). I know there are wiring diagrams using the Walli switches, but those were created before the Controller was introduced, so I am wondering that maybe Dimmer/Controller combo would be better.

Hi @mi38k,

Use Walli dimmer to control light and Walli switches or controllers via associations to control that Walli dimmer. That is the best practice with Walli dimmer to control light.

  • Thanks @jakub.jezek, yes, this what I intend to do, but do you have any recommendation if it is better to go with switch or with controller? For me it seems that the controller is more suitable as it will not have the empty load connection, but I would just like to brainstorm about it :).

@mi38k, Do you want to use additional temperature sensor in Walli Controller or not? If not, I would preffer to use Walli switch as it is 230V and no need to get 12V DC power supply.
