A retailer where I live has the HC3 going very cheap with it being approx 40% off original RPP. Is it worth upgrading from the HC2 to HC3? I see that HC2 isn’t really being updated anymore

Main thing I would like is a working alarm with push notifications and easy integration with a siren without having to use Lua coding as this never seemed to work properly with my HC2

With the facts in my hand, I would not buy an HC3.
I'm in the process of phasing out my HC3 because it doesn't live up to the promises of its advertising.

Now I've got myself a real Gamechanger, and I haven't regretted it.

Thanks for the replies. I thought that may be the case but haven’t been on here in quite a while and was wondering if things had changed. Clearly they haven’t so won’t bother buying one

    Appreciate the help

On my HC2 I had what you want.

Event Runner3 gives what you want its not lua but more simplw so I can uderstand.

"Main thing I would like is a working alarm with push notifications and easy integration with a siren without having to use Lua coding as this never seemed to work properly with my HC2"

    I have push notification on:

    - if a sensor is breached before alarm

    - wich sensor is breached

    - alarm on

    - alarm off

    -ALARM

Agreed with all previous if HC2 works no need to convert to HC3.

Not a good idea because right now Fibaro rolling out Zigbee support on HC3. Currently I have 5 Zigbee devices and they are working fine.

It's not an easy process to move devices from HC2 to HC3, so I don't suggest to replace HC2 by HC3.

If you think to move forward and to add more "brain" to you smart house, I do suggest to use HC3/HC3Lite/Yubii (depends on your needs).

In addition latest HC3 version supports Zigbee devices( currently lighting  and sensors) and that opens horizons for more devices to choose from...

First of all Lua code does work properly, but it depends on the user knowledge and expertise.

I run one huge Lua code that supports the entire house w/o any problem for few years in a row.

I noticed a retailer special for HC3 too (Australia). I wondered whether it was to make it more price competitive now that ZigBee is available, or a clearance sale as HC4 is coming out (!!)

Just few months ago Fibaro launched three new controllers HC3, HC3Lite and Ybuii_Home

I don't think they have any roadmap for HC4, at least not for few years (my personal opinion only)

I upgraded from a HC2 to a HC3 about 6 months ago. It took a bit of time to transfer all my devices ( 38 ) across and to rewrite the scenes( 65) . But now that the initial set up is complete I can only say that I love the new system. Its far better than the HC2 but it does take a little investment in time to get your head into a different way of thinking to set up the block scenes. I would never go back and I'm a happy home automation enthusiast.  I only wish I bought it at the lower cost ...then I'd be happier still.
