Bug Report: New approach to configuration of Electric meters for Energy Panel. - Not working!

Good approach change the configuration of Electric meters for the Energy Panel. But the implementation in this release simply does not work…….

This is the basic setup:

But as I dont measure Prodcution (dont have any production yet in my house) I wanted to change to Grid consumption. Then the configuration layout is changed to this:

This lacks all sense of logic…..

Power Production meters are required to be chosen to be able to save the configuration, but at the same time they are greyed out and cant be selected.

But I dont have any produktion and just want to meassure Grid consumption.

Seem to be some mistake in the configuration . When choosing the option ‘Grid consumption’ you should not need to specify Production meters, but today they are mandatory..

If you have no production, you shall use option ONE (left). Production meters are not mandatory for that option. It is "Whole consumption", which is equal "Grid conumption" when you have no production.
But I agree - to be more clear we shall have additional option, for no-production.

The hole thing are confusing ……

Whole consumption (left option)  looks in the picture to be to measure Consumption and production while

Grid consumption (right option) looks to only measure what you consume from the Grid

I understand what Fibaro is trying to achieve. In the Energy Panel it is important to know what you measure with your devices. My SolarEdge Monitor (quickapp) measures the solar production. My P1 Monitor (quickapp) measures my consumption minus production. I only use my P1 Monitor in my Energy Panel.

For example, the way you install the (new) SolarEdge Inline Energy Meter also has a the same consideration where to measure the power consumption and/or production. In the SolarEdge manual the following examples are shown:

Buenos días, así es como lo tengo, el problema que tengo es que cuando genero más que consumo en la casa y exporto a la empresa, siendo valores negativos, no funciona hasta que empieza a ser el valor positivo (cuando no hay sol y compro energía a la empresa) en España todas las instalaciones se tienen que hacer así, ya que la energía comprada tiene un precio diferente al de la energía vendida.

Good morning, this is how I have it, the problem I have is that when I generate more than consumption in the house and export to the company, being negative values, it does not work until it begins to be the positive value (when there is no sun and I buy energy from the company) in Spain all the facilities have to be done like this, since the energy purchased has a different price than the energy sold.

To prevent negative values I use two child devices (from the P1 Monitor), consumption and production to insert in the energy panel. If there is more consumption than production, production will be zero. If there is more production than consumption, the consumption will be zero.

As for not possible to choose the device, you don't have needed device type in the system (not selected elsewhere).
Please read the description carefully, posts after your question answers most of the technicalities here.

    @m.roszak

Ok… This is from the description in the web interface:

If there are devices in your system that measure consumption, please configure how those are connected in your electrical network. You can choose whether meters measure whole consumption or consumption from the grid:

    • Whole consumption means that there is power/energy flowing through the meter from both the mains electrical network and the energy producing installation.
    • Consumption from the grid means that only power/energy from the mains electrical network flows through the meter.

Setting this correctly is needed to properly present summary consumption for your home. If there are no devices in the system which measure overall consumption, use default setting.

In my setup I only have standard Grid power to my house, I have no production on my own so far.

So for me the first option ‘Whole consumption’ as the description for that are talking about both mains electrical network and the energy production installation are not suited for my setup.

So in my mind the Consumption from the Grid would be the option to choose. as that talks about only power/energy from the mains electrical network.

But then things gets messed up in my view. When I choose that the interface changes and all logic goes away….. Now I am forced to choose:

    - Grid Energy consumption meter

    - Grid Energy production meter (Why?? When description only talks about power/energy from the Grid)

    - Grid instantanious power consumption meter.

    - Grid instantanious power production meter (Why?? When description only talks about power/energy from the Grid)

    - Instantanious power production meter (Why?? When description only talks about power/energy from the Grid)

First of all if ‘Consumption from the Grid’ only talks about power/energy from the mains electrical network flows through the meter, it says nothing about production, but I am forced to configure production parameters.

So if I have a house, only connected to the mains electrical network, I have meters on this. But I dont have any production at all in my house. What options should I choose?

As your grid meter measures whole consumption (no production in the system) left option is a way to go.
