I was running the 112 beta and all was well. I decided to upgrade to 113 and got the error regarding writing the z-wave dump file. I tried all the options to fix it in the recovery, nothing works. I can get it to boot after using a clean firmware install back to 112, but I cannot restore any backups, no matter what backup I use with any version of firmware (110, 111, 112, etc), it says error while writing z-wave dump file and does not boot up. Any ideas or help?

I am not sure, I haven't seen this issue before, but I did notice this message in the Version 5.112.12 release notes:

Important Notice

Restoring backup with version below 5.111 causes communication error between the gateway and Z-Wave devices.
First it is necessary to reset the Z-Wave network (from Settings > Z-Wave) and restore the backup from given version again to resolve the issue.

So the "new" part in this procedure is "reset the Z-Wave network (from Settings > Z-Wave)" before doing a restore (again). Never had to do that with any version before this one

I know, this is not 100% exactly what you are experiencing, but it is suggesting that 112 (possibly even 111) and later versions change something on the Z-Wave chip that might need to be reset before doing a restore.

If that does not help, I think your only option is to contact support, because nothing of this part is user-accessible. A list of contact options is here:

This does not look to be related with mentioned problem, contact support ASAP as Peter suggested - this only relates with "small gateways" and do not manifest itself this way, restoring still works but may affect communication with devices.

Initially when restoring, I had about 50 brown boxes for my devices (less than half the number of devices), and not the correct devices. Then after all the tries, etc now no devices and cannot restore. I have support looking into it now.

I am being told that there is a problem with the z-wave EEPROM. I have had problems with this box right from the beginning and no one has ever accepted that its a hardware issue. i bought one of the first few and now its out of warranty, suddenly its a hardware issue!!!! I find this very annoying. This box has always caused trouble when more devices were added. Works fine with just a few devices. Often crashes on reboot, loses config on upgrade. I do hope that they acknowledge that it was faulty from the beginning. I heard that there was an EEPROM issue with early boxes, is that true? Right now I'm just thinking I should go with Hubitat.

Pre-production units (samples), not customers ones did no have eeprom for Nice chip - not Z-Wave.
If you reported problems before I will arrange that it will be fixed, does not matter if it is still on guarantee or not.

I am experiencing the same thing, lost my devices after attempting to upgrade, and now getting same error as above.  I know the restore file works as have had used the same backup previously successfully.
