external display of event times HC3

Jay Ess

Question

Hi i am trying to build a display showing time sof sunrise and sunset on an external monitor, can anyone give me some pointers on the best way to achieve this?

I have looked at dakboard running on a pi with an hdmi monitor which will mabe sync with a gmail calendar and send the events to my gmail calendar to sync it up, but it seems to be overly complicated and was hoping someone has a simpler solution?

Many thanks for any help provided.

Hi @Jay Ess You can run HomeAssistant on your Raspberry and use the built-in SUN integration.

You can then run the HomeAssistant app on your mobile or on a wall-mounted tablet.

Or create your own dashboard. Very simple and intuitive app.

Its called Home Remote.

  • thank you will have a look at these options, i run a complicated qa which gets me hebrew calendar dates and special times of the day. I have managed to install lua on a raspberry pi and i am trying to insert the records in to a mariadb on same pi but am struggling on getting lua to talk to the database, does any one have any idea  on how to configure this? this would save me from re-writing my code in to another language as the lua code runs as expected on the pi.

I know this slightly outside the purview of this site but was hoping that someone has some experience on lua and mariadb/mysql.

at the moment the simplest way i can think of would be to run a basic webpage with a calendar which refreshes on a schedule and fetches the data from mysql, this is very simple to setup.

i have the website up and running and can calculate the needed data to insert in to database but cant connect to the database 😪
