When you ask for the device list and you set a filter so that you only have battery powered devices, and you then ask to order the list by battery fullness, you then first get the red marked (the empty battaries), then a list of batteries ordered by their fullness (from let's say 15 to 100%) and then again a list follows of empty batteries (marked in red again). Something is wrong here...

Yes, without background in Z-Wave that does not make sense. For historical reasons Zwave has this :

I will quote directly from the specification of COMMAND_CLASS_BATTERY

This field is used toreport the percentage indicating the battery level. This field MUST be in the range 0x00..0x64 or set to 0xFF.
Values in the range 0x00..0x64 MUST indicate the battery percentage level from 0 to 100% The value 0xFF MUST indicate a low-battery warning.

So the one that trips you up is the 255. Many gateways treat 255 like 0 = empty.

Some devices report between 100 and 254 inclusive, which is simply defined as "illegal" but often treated as 100%

Thank you Peter for the explanation. Another issue thus with Z-wave implementations by different manufacturers...
