VeraPlus + Fibaro Smart Implant + 3x DS18B20

Question

Posted

Hello,

I’ve just added to my VeraPlus Fibaro Smart Implant with 3x DS18B20 probes. Vera can include the Implant easily, however, just one Temperature sensor is created with a temperature cca 10C higher, than the real one.

So my issues are:

  • Just one Temperature sensor created instead of 3 ones
  • Cca 10C higher temperature reported than the real one
  • The temperature does not change much during the day (changes no more than 0,5C)

I also tried several times to remove + re-add the device, but with no success at all. And even with just one DS18B20 the temperature is reported incorrectly…

Is there any solution to this a laic like me can solve? Vera support did not solve this

@ddavidI don't know your VeraPlus Gateway. Im using quite a few Smartimplants with Fibaro homecenters and up to 4 temp sensors DS18B20 conected to each SI.

The temp you can see with about 10 degres to high, than the  real one, is the Temp from the build in temp sensor in the SI. Meaning your 3 DS18B20 sensors haven't been detected.

After some issues with the SI I'm using only:

Power Supply 12V 2A

Max 3m long wires from the Sensor to the Homecenter.

When you add or remove a sensor, you have to exlude and include it again from the zwave gateway.

If you still can't see the temp sensors or more than you have connected, try one by one to find out the bad DS18B20 sensor.

@Fabir Thank you for your answer. This is an interesting view about the power supply, where mine might be too weak to work with those probes - 12V 1A. Also good point about the built-in temp sensor, what makes me to try another power supply and see, if this helps...

@ddavidHi wish you good luck. I've had the same issues with the Smartimplant and the DS18B20 tempsensors. I'm buying them from amazon. Sometimes there is a bad one. Resulting in no Sensor is detected, or to many.

Before I mentioned about the length from the sensor to the homecenter using max. 3 meter wire, this is was wrong. Correct is, max. 3 meter wire from the sensor to the smart implant as the SI is connected by zwave to the hc.

Normaly I don't use the build in Temp sensor. If you want to use it, in the adavanced settings, you can off set the temp, to make it more real.

Pretty much all the points in that post apply regardless of the controller used....work through it and let us know if you solve it?
