Scene notifications when not connected directly to the controller

Question

Posted

Hi,

I have problems with single and double switches (FGS-213, FGS-223). I can configure them to send scene notifications for a single click, double click, etc. and they all work, but only when the module is talking directly to the controller. When I move it farther away, so there are at least two hops between the device and the controller, no scene notifications are received by the controller, even after healing the network.

In the same location, scene notifications sent by smart modules (FGS-224) are received by the controller even when there are multiple hops between the device and the controller.

The only difference is that smart modules use S2 encryption, while switches do not use encryption.

Is that to be expected?

Am I missing something?

Is it possible to fix it?

@QoobsHi can you tell us which zwave controller you have?

It has been reported before

I quote:

Conclusion : CentralSceneEvent does not work when you don't have direct communication with your controller.

I was not able to investigate the issue because I could not replicate the problem. Then I lost interest, after all this was 2017/2018.

But now you have mentioned it...

    I have Aeotec's Z-Stick Gen5+.

However, this has already been answered in the polish section of the forum:

Turns out it is an expected behaviour, as central scene on FGS-213 and FGS-223 works only when they are directly connected to the controller :(
