Aeotec HEM-1 - can't add on ZW 2.0 engine, don't update on ZW 3.0 engine

I found that Aeotec Home Energy Meters 1 phase can't be added on latest firmware 5.130.64. Tried several options:

   1) Z-Wave 2.0 Engine - without security - can't add - Interviewing finishes with Failed result and device "Not configured". Failed window freeze in BUI and need to reload page.

        Sometimes it's closes without prompt window for set device name and room - just back to BUI, but still "Not configured". Tried like 20 times - any luck

   2) Z-Wave 2.0 Engine with S0 security - adding successfully, but all parameters with zero values and can't set any value - device just freezes

   3) Z-Wave 3.0 Engine with S0 security - adding successfully with all settings, but device still not updating values to controller.

 

Tried with several firmwares of HEM-1 - 1.33, 1.35, 1.37

Tried several devices.

Tried on 3 different HC3 ( 1 - ZW 3.0, 2 and 3 - ZW 2.0 ) 

Tried factory reset.

Result the same, so, I trully sure that's firmware fail.

 

HEM 3 phase works more or less stable on those 3 HC3's , so, I think it's only HEM 1 phase glitch.

 

Will open case tomorrow or on Monday, but frankly, I don't expect any useful feedback from standard Fibaro support. Their scripts stuck on standard " try to factory reset" , " try to remove and try again "....

 

@m.roszak, maybe you have some info - any luck to have new firmware version soon ? Maybe with fixes of Energy Meters ?

In Ukraine we are very need that right now - to control all electric devices

Hi, I don't have a HEM-1. But I'm using several HEM-5's with hc2, hcl, hc3 and hc3l.

For hc3 and hc3l you need to have the latest firmware on the HEM.

Open a support ticket on aeotec.com and they will send you the latest firmware.

I could never update the firmware on a HEM, with Fibaro. I'm using an Aeotec Zwave Stick, connected to Windows PC, to update the firmware on the HEM.

 

HC3 and HC3L: The zwave engine ZW3 is not recommend for production.  A few months ago, I had opened fibaro support ticket. The fibaro support told me,the ZW3 engine is not yet in alpha status.

 

In my case, the HEM-5 is working fine with the latest firmware on hc3 and hc3l with ZW2. It is very responsive. Also in the Yubii App on an Android Smartphone. They are includet without security. There is a template now for the parameters. I didn't need to change any parameters, because I'm only using Total kWh, Total kW, kW L1, kW L2 and kW L3.

We found why this is happening and next version will resolve this - it is related with firmware file format, not the update process itself. 

As there are several versions of those we won't be able to support all, updating them to the newest firmware is a way to go.

I think this is missunderstanding from your side

Aeotec have Home Energy Meter Gen5 with 2 versions - for 1 phase connection ( that's usually called HEM-1 ) and for 3 phase connection ( called HEM-3 )

In your transcription - you have HEM 5 - I hardly can imagine, that is 5 phase version ( because it's not exist )

I think you mentioned, that you have Gen5 product with 3 phases ( you mentioned, that you receiving data for L1, L2, L3 - that's 3 phase connection

 

My problem is with HEM with 1 phase connection, which is not connecting, so, it's not related to 3 phase connection version.

Because I have also 3 phase product and it works fine with both ZW2 and ZW3 engines.

 

And I also have Z-Wave PC Stick, that's why I can test same device with different firmwares, that I mentioned in first message.

Firmware 1.37 is the latest for today.

 

@m.roszak, could you please advise - you will fix inclusion process of HEM 1phase or you will add firmware update for Aeotec products? It's unclear.

Hi @afendikovyou are right it's called Home Energy Meter Gen5. The model I have is the ZW095 with 3 phases as I mentioned above. I have'nt mendtioned it would have 5 phases.

We won't support every version but it will be possible to update HEM to any supported version with the specific hardware using ZW3.0 engine.
