some scenes no longer work

Question

Hello

my situation:

  • HCL 4.630
  • In use since a few years, very stable
  • about 12% CPU, RAM is 92%, storage is 9% used. (system is not slow nor anything weird observed)
  • around 85 devices configured (physically 53 devices: 13 blinds, 22 sensors, 10 plugs, 5 switches and 3 water detectors)
  • 15 scenes, of which 5 are automatic (and bypass alarm ticked), rest is manual.
  • no alarm(s) running

triggering devices individually > no issues (so Z-Wave OK)

I noticed the last few days that a morning scene, which opens some blinds and sends an email to confirm (all in same scene), was sending the email but not opening the blinds.

I checked the scene, not changed since months, and modified (removed a blind to open) just to "refresh" the scene by saving it.

Now that scene stopped working altogether, not even an email anymore.

However other existing similar scenes (e.g. closing blinds in evening, switch on/off lights) still run FINE.

Automatic scenes are sensor and/or time based.

A new simple scene I created (1 device switched on at point in time) > does nothing

Another new simple scene (just send a push message at point in time) > does nothing

Manually triggering ANY scene (even the ones that work in the evening) > does nothing

New manual test scene with a PIN code > will ask for PIN and then does nothing further

Tried by web interface and mobile app interface, same behaviour.

Tried a soft reboot > no change

Tried a power cycle > no change

Ran a backup (to stop/start services) > no change

Tried to get logs (http://ip.address]/services/system/logsDump.php) > asks for credentials and then nothing happens (tried with 4 browsers).

Any clues??? I'm getting a bit desperate on this one...

Dear Dirkies,

my best guess is, to restart your Homecenter 2 periodically. Before I switched to HC3, I used a scene to restart my HC2 (it was expanded from 2 GB to 4 GB RAM) once a week to prevent such a (similar) behaviour especially if your running a HC2 for several weeks/months without restart. Even with my HC3 I do so.

Hope this will solve your issue.
Greetings
Juwi

You need to read posts more carefully, @dirkies  has HCL (Home Center Lite).

It is unfortunate that you had to restart your HC2 so frequently even with expanded memory. My HC2 can work for months without needing for rebooting. Once it worked for 6 months without problems and if I didn't have to make backup it would probably reach much longer period. It is even more unfortunate if you do the same with HC3. Must be that some user code is making trouble. All systems where users can write their own code are prone to be unstable ;-)

Hi @dirkies ,

I believe I read somewhere here on forum that such problems are caused by large log files. Since users are unable to delete them I suggest that you contact Fibaro support and ask them for help. I'm sure they will be very helpful and solve your problem in no time (not longer that two weeks... nah just kidding :-D)

  • well, it's getting weirder: exact time based scenes no longer work, but "variable time scenes" (like sunset/sunrise) work perfectly!?

Also, my 2 zappers no longer work, pushing the buttons does light up the led as usual but the devices no longer react to it

I start to wonder if HCL has issues with too many door/window/temperature sensors, as the issue started when I added a few more of these...

Will check with fibaro support then I guess!

  • Fibaro support has solved the issue within 6h of contacting them. They optimized some data in the HCL and now everything works flawless again. I guess Sankotronic was right 😀

    thanks for all
