Have I bricked my Fibaro HC-2?

Question

Posted

Hi all

Installed my Fibaro HC2 in 2018, did all my z-wave devices and everything has worked great, no issues.

I was going to add some new devices and logged on to my fibaro. Since it's been such a long time since I used I thought it might be smart to do a software update. So I did, and I regret it so bad..

It bricked, I could not log in to it from either the app on my phone, the Fibaro finder couldn't find it, couldnt even ping it from my computer.

I read somewhere that a software update might change the static Ip I had set it to(192.168.1.1) to the Fibaro static IP when in recovery mode, 192.168.81.1.

So, I changed my router to this IP range, meaning 192.168.81.XXXXX. ANd now I can find the recovery screen, the Fibaro Finder can find it, but I cant log into it from the Fibaro remote access so I can change it back to the IP-range I want.

What to do??

You should login locally on the HC2, not remote.

You could also reset the HC2 to dynamic IP address to get it witin your normal router range.

See the manual over here how to:

    Ok, quick update.

I did a factory reset and recovery. It all went fine but after it was done it disappeared completely. The fibaro finder cant find it, the Fibare remote access can still not find it. I assume that it's set back to 192.168.1.1 because now I cant even ping it onm the "81" adress.. ?

    Probably too late for that!

Now I can find it though typing in the IP adress 192.168.81.1 but not through Fibaro remote access nor the Fibaro finder app.. strange?

But, it doesnt accept my Login credentials. When I try "forgot passord" it doesn't even recognise my username anymore?

@jarven1977 In the image you post, you use your email adres as username for the login.

    Are you sure thats right?

It says, a new generated password will be emailed to the email from the config file of the user.

So, maybe try, admin, or jarven, what ever the username should be.

    EDIT

Or better try admin/admin after a factory reset

Long  press the plus (+) button, iirc some of the LEDS starts blinking. This switches the system between Fixed IP and DHCP and back. If it is on DHCP your HC2 will be visible in find.fibaro.com and have the proper settings to connect with your laptop if that one is also using DHCP.

Try the obvious for username/password, like admin/admin and admin/<the password you use with your Fibaro ID.

Thank's guys! admin / admin did the trick! Now I just need to figure out if it's possible to get my old configuration back somehow, it's totally blank! And set a static IP matching my network..

First set the IP and reboot, then try to login in with your Fibaro ID, the username looks like a mail address

In case you do not see any device then try a restore.

Go to Backup and Restore to restore your last good configuration.

Make sure you have the "globe" aka "internet" LED on.

LEDs and buttons are described here:
