This is really great but my knowledge about these things isn't that good OR.......... should i give it a try, there is nothing to lose !! 🤪

I'm so disappointed in buying HC3 because it's just a polished version of HC2.

Every update brings nothing more then some UI changes or a couple of buttons that brings me no further.

The Yubii app is a disaster.
Because HA is advancing so rapidly, it will not be long before they are crushed by the companies that listen to their customers. This is something that Fibaro does not do, and the consequences will be noticeable in the very short term. If you look at the activity on the home-assistant forums or the Fibaro forum, you will see enough evidence of this.

Sorry to hear that. It was not my intention to start this discussion.

Let me put it this way, I think HomeAssistant is a perfect combination next to an HC3.

Great combo, just enjoy what you can get from the both.

    So do it :)

Why sorry ? No need for that.

I'm very grateful to you for pointing me out in the right direction. First step: a 3D printer, actually I wanted to buy one for a while now, so this is the perfect opportunity.

    Thanks again.

    Let's do this 🤪

I hope @RH_Dreambox can help me out a little bit when i got stucked. 😄

@Lode Your biggest problem will probably be printing the box for the motherboard :-)

The most common problem for a beginner in 3D printing is that they have not calibrated the first print layer well enough.

Only when you have a perfect first layer can you print nice things.
Otherwise, you can buy a cheap used Dell Optiplex and get a solid and well packaged microcomputer for your HomeAssistant.
Then you can enjoy all the wonderful things you can integrate into your HomeAssistant and enjoy a user-friendly dashboard created just the way you want it :-)

    @RH_Dreambox thanks for your reply.

Even before i saw your awesome project i was thinking about buying a 3d printer so i will do that anyway.

The Dell Optiplex is a very good idea.

There are some things i have to consider.

e.g. i have elero solar rollershutters who are working at 868 MHz.

Is that possible in HA ?

    Posted

@Lode I myself have an sun blind with 868MHz control (remote control) and have long been looking for a controller for this.
I tried building an RFXCOM designed for 868MHz that was mounted on an Arduino, but I never got it to work.
RFXCOM is otherwise one of HomeAssistans many (today 2412) integrations and all my 433MHz devices use RZXCOM 433MHz for communication.

    That's a big issue for me !!

On the other hand 5 times out of 10 it doesn't work.

The signal is encrypted too so i can't do anything about that.

The only way is to buy an expensive elero stick that can be integrated in HA.

There is a repository on Github.

I don't know what to do for now but i will definitely leave Fibaro and go to Home Assistant.

With the last update i saw they integrated a light scenario !

    I mean......really ??

Something that can be done by a newbie with a simple block scene.

Don't they have issues to resolve ?

@Lode This one is similar to mine Optiplex Micro computer. And you don't need a Windows license.

    but this one is better

@RH_Dreambox Hi, thanks again for your reply.

I'm very gratfull to you for your help.

I ordered this one as i mentioned before.

Please login or register to see this link.

    also without Windows.

I couldn't wait so i can start next saturday.

    Guess i have a mean machine here....i hope ? 😄

I installed HA on my NAS for testing.......OH MEN......a whole new world goes open.

    The possibilities are endless.

Yaml is so easy to learn......and so powerfull.

The helpers impressed me the most.

e.g. with the schedule i can build my own heating panel.....etc......

I build a dashboard already just with some information about my phone and Hue lights just for testing.

    Zwave stick arrived today.

Please login or register to see this link.

For the moment i don't need a zigbee stick since i can control my Hue lights just over my network.

    I have one problem.

I don't know how to flash HA to my SSD.

I saw you have a dockingstation to do that.

I think i need a cable to do that.

Something like this i guess or am i wrong ?

Please login or register to see this link.

    Thanks again....
And hope i will meet you on the HA community 😉

@Lode Yes that cable will work for installation. It is possible to install via a USB stick as well, but it takes longer and is more cumbersome.
With the cable you can easily flash the HA image.
And how to do it is very well described in the link below :-)

Good luck with your new and better home automation life!
