Best wiiring for strip lighting UK



I'm going to install several strip lights in a room and run the wiring to a single location. 


I intent to use the RGBW controller  and wire in parallel to the strip lights. 


Since the wiring is going through ceilings/walls etc do I run a 240v 5 core cable to the strip lights or just use standard 0.5m2 RGBW 5 core cable. 


Just wondering what's best practice and future proofing.

I attribute it to the language barrier because English is not my native language, but I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU.
If you have a 12/24V line for a long distance, it is better to use stronger wires than recommended, as long as you have to figure out how to connect the wires to the LED strip (terminal block, or switch to smaller wires that can be soldered directly to the strip.
  If the distance from the controller to the LED strip is up to 2-3m, UTP can also be suitable. It's all about physics, i.e. the voltage drop on the line.
Describe the requirement a bit more.

I think the question is whether to use low voltage cable or 240V cable for future proofing.   I can answer based on my experience - I have a mix of both, and they both work fine.  Note that as you increase the voltage, you increase the insulation thickness.  As you increase the run length and load, you increase the copper cross sectional area.  An electrician will almost always just put in the cheapest cable, sometimes it is actually too thin.  One advantage of the 5 core cable is that it is properly colour coded.  My electrican's apprentice hooked up a RGBW with 240V twin cable, and got all the colours mixed up.  He had to resolder it (in fact he had to buy new LED strip as well because the terminations broke off when resoldering).
