How can I view the properties of one device on the HC3 ?

Question

Posted

I have just migrated from HC2 to HC3.  I have some 5 devices that have no names.  They don't appear in any room or in the device display.  I can see the numbers in various dropdowns.  I want to track them down and either remove or fix them.

On HC2, it was possible to look at one device and then just change the url to point to another device.  Using this I could have discovered what these are.

How do I do this on HC3 ?

Can you see them in swagger devices properties?

I don't really understand what you mean by "I can see them in various dropdowns"..

To be honest the entire question is a little bit "hard to get" for me...Sorry

In general, when you include a device into your system, they will come in most of the cases with several child devices.

Usually the ones, that should not bee seen as default, come always in hidden state. Later by using the filter dropdown, and selecting ALL you can see all of them.

I don't recommend to delete any child device from any master device's group. They can be easily used directly by the master device. Like thermostat has a parent device, a child thermostat device and a child temperature sensor..

Some devices has a remote controller device that is used to be used for defining some interactions with the device itself, like button presses.

Removing a device is just a matter of excluding them from the system. (use Remove device button), or in case of a quickapp device, just press the trash bin button.

Moving devices between rooms is done by just selecting the desired room from the room button in the row of the device.

Track them down?? This i can't understand. What you mean by tracking them down? You can search device by name, protocol etc. in the filter bar. Tracking their values in a LUA code just use hub.getValue(deviceID,"value"), or getting the full device json use, api.get("/devices/deviceID)

Or if I misunderstood you, please provide a little bit deeper description of your issue.

Thanks

I think you are overthinking it.  I name all my devices and subdevices with names so I can recognise them.  But after the transfer, there are some that do not have a name.  They do not appear in any room.    But they appear in dropdowns for scenes.  See image.  Two of them are a complete set (where none of the components have names).

What I do them is not the issue as it will depend on what they are.    I am asking "How can I find them".  With 134 devices its a bit tedious.  On HC2, you could view one device on a url and you could change the id number in the url to see another device.  But on HC3, I have not found such an URl.  Its always gives a list and uses ajax/js to expand.

Finally I can.  It took a while to fetch all 134 devices.  I thought it had died.  I have saved that in a text file.  Now I can hunt them down.

Following Sjakie's lead I have tracked them all down.

    It looks like the following

    1. On all newer Relays, the heat detector sub-devices had lost their names.  I know that I had given them names on the HC2.
    2. All 3 Implants have lost names on the master and all the sub-devices (the UBS are fine).  Great, they are in the attic so now I have to walk around trying to trace which one is which by opening and closing all windows and doors.
    3. All Buttons and CIT had lost names on the Master device.  Again they did have names on the HC2.
    4. Luckily, rogue, phantom devices from HC2 have not come over, so there is nothing to delete.:)

I was still deciding whether I should use one this time.  And was going to roll my own.    I will have a look.
